Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2022 to Dec. 31, 2026. Signed on July 21, 2022.
Shift premium: $1.70 per hour (previously $1.50 per hour) for hours worked, including overtime hours, between 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. $1.70 per hour (previously $1.50 per hour) for hours worked, including overtime hours, on Saturday or Sunday.
Paid holidays: 12 days including Regatta Day, 1 additional day.
Vacations with pay: 1 1/4 days per month to start, 1 2/3 days per month after 7 years, 2 1/12 days per month after 17 years, 2 1/2 days per month after 25 years. Unused portion, maximum 1 year’s credit will be carried over into following fiscal year. All unused credits in excess of 1 year’s credit will be automatically paid in cash on last day of vacation year.
Overtime: Time and one-half for each hour worked; double time on second or subsequent day of rest, providing days of rest are consecutive and contiguous for FR group. Time and one-half for first 6 hours of overtime worked, on regular work day or employees’ first day of rest; double time thereafter. Double time for all hours worked on second or subsequent day of rest for non-FR group employees.
Meal allowance: 1 meal, except where free meals are provided, or $12 for (previously $11) for employee who works 3 or more hours of overtime, immediately before scheduled hours of work and who has not been notified of requirement before end of last scheduled work period or immediately following employee’s scheduled hours of work.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 85% of premiums, employees pays 15% of premiums.
Sick leave: 1.25 days per month. 11/12) of shift for each calendar month for employee occupying position within FR (firefighters) group.
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, foster-parent, brother, sister, spouse, child, child of common-law spouse, stepchild, ward of employee, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, relative residing in employee’s household). Additional 3 days for travel related to death. 1 day for death of niece, nephew, brother-in-law, sister-in-law. 1 day to attend funeral where employee will actively participate in funeral service (pallbearer, eulogy, reader).
Call-in pay: Greater of 3 hours’ pay or applicable rate of overtime for time worked, if period worked is not contiguous to employee’s normal hours of work.
Probationary period: 6 months. Employer and union Local may agree to extend probationary period for additional 60 days.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for document or written statement related to disciplinary action.
Severance: One-half week’s pay for each year of employment, maximum 26 years, maximum benefit of 13 weeks’ pay.
Safety shoes: $125 per year or if unclaimed in any year, it may be accumulated to following year, maximum $250 for CSA-approved.
Mileage: $0.49 per kilometre, maximum 50 kilometres, when employee reports for overtime work, which is not contiguous to regularly scheduled shift on that day.
