Renewal agreement: Effective July 3, 2019 to July 2, 2022. Ratified in January 2021. Signed on April 21, 2021.

Wage adjustments:

Effective July 3, 2019: 1%

Effective July 3, 2020: 1%

Effective July 3, 2021: 1%

Shift premium: 2% of regular hourly rate per hour for each shift worked between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. $0.25 per hour for all hours worked between Friday at 10:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10:30 p.m. $0.40 per hour during assignment for employee assigned to work in charge function.

Paid holidays: 12 days for full-time employees, 9 days for part-time employees. Employer will endeavour to schedule so that employees will be off duty either New Year’s Day or Christmas Day.

Vacations with pay: 0.833 days per each completed calendar month up to 10 days to start, 1.25 days per completed calendar month up to 15 days after 3 years, 1.667 days per completed calendar month up to 20 days after 8 years, 2.083 days per completed calendar month up to 25 days after 15 years, 2.5 days for each completed calendar month up to 30 days after 22 years, 2.917 days per calendar month up to 35 days after 28 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for any hours worked in excess of 7.5 per day or 75 in 2-week pay period, and all hours worked on recognized holiday.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for extended health care plan.

Dental: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums for group dental plan (exam and cleaning every 9 months).

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $300 every 2 years (previously $250 every 2 years) and cost of 1 examination every 2 years.

Sick leave: 11.25 hours per completed month of employment with less than 1 year of continuous full-time employment. After 1 year, 135 hours per calendar year. Can be accumulated up to 1,500 hours.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage equal to twice employee’s annual salary.

Pension: Hospitals of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).

Bereavement leave: 5 paid shifts for death of spouse (including common-law, same-sex); fiancée, child, parent. 4 paid shifts for death of sibling, parent-in-law, child-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, sibling-in-law.

Seniority – recall rights: 18 months.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours’ pay at appropriate rate. $25 per day for each full or partial day spent on call.

Probationary period: 45 working days. May be extended with written consent of employer, probationary employee, and president of local union or designate.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months.

Safety shoes: $145 every 2 years to each full-time employee who is required to wear safety footwear as condition of employment.

Uniforms/clothing: Employees required to wear uniform as condition of employment are paid $0.20 per hour, to increase by $0.01 in each year of contract.

Tool allowance: $0.20 per hour to mechanic classifications.

Mileage: Employees who are required to use personal vehicle for employer business will be reimbursed $0.42 per kilometre or at Villa Policy rate, whichever is greater, for all kilometres driven between work locations.

Certified health care aide/personal support worker/environmental aide/maintenance helper: $21.49 (step 1); $22.05 (step 3)

BSO care support workers (PSW): $22.05 (step 1); $22.97 (step 3)

Registered practical nurse: $26.49 (step 1); $27.43 (step 3)

BSO clinical coach (RPN): $27.17 (step 1); $28.26 (step 3)

BSO mobile support worker: $37.61 (step 1); $41.51 (step 3)

Food service worker/cashier/linen aide: $21.58 (step 1); $22 (step 3)

Stores person: $22.32 (step 1); $22.80 (step 3)

Assistant cook: $23.52 (step 1); $24.36 (step 3)

Stores person/environmental aide: $21.84 (step 1); $22.40 (step 3)

Therapeutic recreationalist: $21.46 (step 1); $22.50 (step 3)

Editor’s notes: Part-time availability: Regular part-time employees must be available to work at least 4 shifts per pay period, 1 weekend per pay period, either Christmas Day or New Year’s Day, 4 recognized holidays during year, 10 months of year including December and total of 4 weeks during July and August. Influenza vaccination: When medical officer of health or public health department has declared influenza outbreak, employees who haven’t received annual vaccination will be excluded from work until they receive it. Employees who refuse vaccination will be reassigned or placed on unpaid leave. Banked lieu time or vacation time can be used. Pay for training: When employer requires employee to take further training, employer will pay full cost of required courses. Hearing aids: $300 maximum lifetime coverage.
