Renewal agreement: Effective Aug. 20, 2019 to Aug. 19, 2022. Ratified in September 2020. Signed on Aug. 20, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Aug. 20, 2019: 1%

Effective Aug. 20, 2020: 1%

Effective Aug. 20, 2021: 1%

Shift premium: $0.30 per hour for shift in which majority of hours fall between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. $0.40 per hour for shift in which majority of hours fall between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. $0.35 per hour for all hours worked on Saturdays and Sundays.

Paid holidays: 12 days including 3 float days. Employees must work either Christmas Day/Boxing Day or New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day.

Vacations with pay: Employees: 2 weeks prorated to start, 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 4 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 15 years, 6 weeks after 24 years, 7 weeks after 28 years. RNs and RPNs: 3 weeks prorated to start, 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks after 4 years, 5 weeks after 10 years, 6 weeks after 24 years, 7 weeks after 24 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work performed in excess of 7.5 hours in 1 day, 75 hours in 1 pay period, within 15 hours of previous shift work unless voluntarily accepted, or 7 consecutive days.

Meal allowance: Meal provided for double shift or $10 if second shift is night shift.

Medical benefits: Employer pay 100% of premiums for extended health plan.

Dental: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums for dental plan.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $300 total for glasses (or elective contact lenses or laser procedures) and eye exams every 24 months per person (every 12 months for dependants younger than 18.)

Sick leave: 7.5 days per month, maximum 75 hours per year. Cannot be carried forward.

LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 1 times salary.

Pension: Employer, employee each contribute 4% of employee wages to joint RRSP.

Bereavement leave: 5 paid days for death of spouse, child, stepchild. 3 paid days for death of parent, parent-in-law, sibling, sibling-in-law, legal guardian, grandparent, grandparent-in-law, grandchild, child-in-law. 2 days if employee is not able to attend funeral. 1 paid day to attend funeral of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew.

Seniority – recall rights: 24 months for layoffs or due to workplace injury and there is no reasonable likelihood employee will return to work within near future; 45 days for casual employees.

Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours’ pay at applicable regular or overtime rate.

Probationary period: 600 hours or 8 months of employment, whichever comes first.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months.

Severance: 9 weeks’ notice after 9 years of service, 10 weeks’ notice after 10 years of service, 11 weeks’ notice after 11 years of service, 12 weeks’ notice after 12 years.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer provides employees in dietary department with aprons free of charge. $130 per year for all full-time employees.

Mileage: $0.42 per kilometre for authorized use of personal vehicle on behalf of employer or to attend training or events away from facility when attendance is required by employer.

Dietary/housekeeping/laundry (6 years): $20.80 rising 1 step to $21.01

Cook 1 (start): $21.15 rising 1 step to $21.36

Cook 1 (6 years): $22.70 rising 1 step to $22.93

HCA/PSW pool/TR/St. nurse/supportive housing (start): $20.03 rising 1 step to $20.23

HCA/PSW pool/TR/St. nurse, supportive housing (6 years): $21.65 rising 1 step to $21.87

RPN (start): $24.93 rising 1 step to $25.18

RPN (6 years): $26.71 rising 1 step to $26.98

Maintenance (start): $20.31 rising 1 step to $20.51

Maintenance (6 years): $21.87 rising 1 step to $22.09

Assistant chaplain (start): $25.13 rising 1 step to $25.38

Editor’s notes: Weekends: Full-time employees will be scheduled off at least 2 weekends in 4-week period. Employer will also endeavour to schedule part-time employees off for 2 weekends out of every 4, maximum of 3 weekends in row unless volunteered. Responsibility premiums: $1 for each hour worked when assigned to carry out responsibilities of salaried employee outside bargaining unit for more than one-half of shift. $1.13 per hour for in-charge RN when no supervisor on duty and RPN assigned RN duties. $0.50 per hour for food-service working performing cook duties and employees assigned team leader in supportive housing duties. $1 per hour to employees orienting newly-hired employee.
