Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2025. Signed on Sept. 13, 2021.

Wage adjustments:

Effective April 1, 2021: 1.75%

Effective April 1, 2022: 1.75%

Effective April 1, 2023: 1.75%

Effective April 1, 2024: 1.75%

Shift premium: $3 per hour when scheduled to work Saturday as regular shift; $10 per hour when scheduled to work Sunday as regular shift for technicians. $1 per hour for regular hours worked between 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. for dispatch control. $1 per hour for afternoon shift for technology centre operations.

Paid holidays: 13 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 3 years, 4 weeks after 8 years, 5 weeks after 16 years, 5 weeks plus 1 day for each year after 17 years (maximum 10 additional days vacation).

Overtime: Double time for employees hired prior to ratification; time and one-half for employees hired after ratification. Time may be banked, maximum 5 days accumulated per year (May 1 to April 30).

Meal allowance: $12 (previously $10) when employee works greater than 2 hours beyond normal shift and every 5 hours thereafter.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $200 per person each 2 years, (employee, spouse, and dependent children). Sunglasses or eyeglasses for cosmetic purposes are not included.

Sick leave: Employees will receive 3 non-cumulative days and 3 non-cumulative personal days on Jan. 1 of each year. Employee leaving after 5 years of service will be eligible for 50% of unused vested sick-pay credits or 6 months of pay, whichever is less, payable on termination, retirement, death, or sale of employer.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of mother, father, spouse (including common-law), children, stepmother, stepfather, stepchildren. 3 days for death of common-law spouse’s father or mother, brother, sister, spouse of an employee’s father-in-law or mother-in-law (including common-law spouse) , grandparents, grandchildren, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepbrother, stepsister, stepgrandparents, stepgrandchild, and any relative of the employee who resides permanently in employee’s household. 2 days leave, with pay, for traveling time when employee attends funeral service outside District of Thunder Bay. 1 day when employee acts as pallbearer or perform official function at funeral.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoffs.

Probationary period: 9 months; 90 days for employees transferring or bumping into new positions.

Safety shoes: $65 or 75% of cost of shoes, whichever is greater, to be replaced twice per year for employees who are required to wear green patch safety shoes.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply safety belts, straps, rubber boots, coats, rubber gloves to each employee when necessary, as well as necessary safety glasses, protection shields, rubber mats for covering live wires. Employees who are supplied with hard hats will wear them at all times while on duty.

Tool allowance: $200 reimbursement for vehicle mechanics to purchase any personal tools required for job.
