Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022. Signed on July 1, 2019.

Shift premium: Overtime pay at double time (for all hours worked until 9-hour period has elapsed) when shift is changed with less than 9 hours of notice. $0.10 per hour for each hour worked on shift other than regular day shift for employee temporarily transferred from day shift to another shift; $0.60 per hour for each hour worked on shift other than regular day shift for employee temporarily transferred from day shift to afternoon or night shifts. $0.60 per hour (to all classes to which shift premiums apply) for all regular hours worked more than 1 hour on either side of recognized normal or standard daily hours; if majority of employee’s regular hours fall outside period described, premium will apply to entire shift. $0.35 per hour while employed as charge-hand (employee who is in charge of crew of 3 or more). $0.60 per hour to employees who transport special needs students with school district vehicle (employees will be paid for time actually transporting students or minimum of 1 hour per day). $0.60 per hour to employees who in positions classed as trades, trades supervisors, providing employee holds relevant provincial trade’s qualification or industrial provincial ticket or licence that is over and above trade’s qualification cited in class specification. $0.42 per hour for trades supervisor positions.

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 10 days, to start, 3 weeks after 1 years, 4 weeks after 7 years, 5 weeks after 15 years, 6 weeks after 22 years. Each employee upon commencing eleventh, sixteenth, twenty-first, twenty-sixth, thirty-first, thirty-sixth, forty-first, forty-sixth year of service, will become entitled to 1 supplementary week of vacation

Overtime: Time and one-half for first 2 hours of overtime after 7 hours per day (support staff), 8 hours per day (maintenance, janitorial employees). Double time after 2 hours of overtime. Time may be banked, maximum 80 hours per year. All banked overtime which has not been given to employee by March 31 of immediately following year will be paid out.

Meal allowance: Employer will reimburse meal expenses for overtime preceding or immediately following regular shift and for call-ins: $10 at first break; $5 at each succeeding break. Pre-scheduled overtime — other than immediately preceding or immediately following employee’s regular shift — when employee is notified prior to end of preceding day that overtime is likely to last at least 4 hours: nothing at first break; $10 at second break; $5 at each succeeding break.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Medical Services Plan of British Columbia (MSP).

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 80% for basic dental services; 50% for prosthetics, crowns, bridges. 50% for orthodontics $2,500 maximum lifetime reimbursement (on $5,000 or more of expenditures) for members, dependants .

Sick leave: 1 2/3 days per month, maximum accumulation 200 days (maximum 20 days of accumulation during first year).

Pension: B.C. Municipal Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (spouse, child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, parent, sibling, parent of spouse, grandparent, grandchild, ward, any other dependent relative living in same household). 1 day to attend funeral of friend or relative who is not immediate family.

Seniority – recall rights: 36 months after layoffs.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours of pay at double time (including 1 hours for travel to and from home). Additional 1 hour for travel time if 2 separate call-ins are completed within 3-hour period (minimum payment 4 hours at double time).

Minimum 4 hours of work for relief janitors on Saturdays and Sundays.

Probationary period: First 3 continuous months of service.

Safety shoes: $125 per year for trades supervisor, grounds maintenance workers, trades.

Mileage: $0.06 per hour for maintenance trades employees who use vehicles consistently for carrying heavy loads to job sites.

Editor’s notes: Standby: 1 hour’s pay for each period of 8 hours standing by (in addition to call-in pay) for all standby between end of normal day shift on first day of work in 1 week (excluding statutory holidays) until beginning of normal day shift on last day of work in week (excluding statutory holidays); 1 hour’s pay for each period of 6 hours standing by (in addition to call-in pay) for all other standby days (statutory holidays, weekends). Designated first-aid attendants: $35 per month for WorkSafeBC occupational first aid level 1; $70 per month WorkSafeBC for occupational first aid level 2.
