Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2022. Ratified in January 2020.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 1.75%

Effective Jan. 1, 2020: 1.75%

Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 1.75%

Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 1.75%

Shift premium: $0.75 per hour for scheduled runs finishing at 11:01 p.m. or later. $1.50 per hour for operators in charge of trainees. Maintenance and administration employees receive $0.85 per hour for hours between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m.; $1 per hour for hours between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. (previously $0.85 per hour). Time and one-quarter for work performed on Sunday. $2 per hour for employees temporarily replacing foremen or inspectors. $1 per hour for employees appointed to be crew leaders. $2 per hour for inspectors working as acting superintendent.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks plus 2 days after 1 year, 3 weeks plus 2 days after 2 years, 4 weeks plus 2 days after 6 years, 4 weeks plus 4 days after 9 years, 5 weeks plus 2 days after 13 years, 5 weeks plus 3 days after 16 years, 5 weeks plus 4 days after 18 years, 6 weeks after 19 years, 6 weeks plus 1 day after 20 years, 6 weeks plus 2 days after 23 years, 7 weeks plus 2 days after 26 years, 8 weeks after 30 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for work performed after 8 hours daily or 40 hours per week; all hours worked on holiday.

Meal allowance: $9 to all maintenance/administrative employees required to work 3 hours or more of overtime.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

STD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for income protection plan for 26 weeks. Probationary employees have 26 weeks at 66 2/3% of pay; 1 year of service gets 2 weeks of full pay with balance at 66 2/3%; up to 25 years of service gets 26 weeks at full pay.

LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums income protection plan of 66 2/3% of earnings after 26 weeks.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Pension: Combined contributions equal to 7.5% of employee’s earnings.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.

Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours at overtime rate for maintenance/administration employees called in. Operators required to report to cover runs of absentees or in anticipation of extra service will receive minimum of 2 hours’ pay at straight time rate if no work available. Operators operating extra, charter, unassigned runs will receive minimum of 2 hours’ pay at straight time.

Probationary period: 9 calendar months.

Safety shoes: $110 per year for administrative employees required to wear CSA-approved footwear.

Uniforms/clothing: Each uniformed employee receives following upon start of employment: 3 shirts, 2 pants, 2 ties, 1 parka, 1 baseball cap, 1 toque, 1 sweater. Operators and inspectors receive 110 points per year for clothing acquisition and must order at least 3 shirts (6 points each) and 2 pairs of pants (14 points each) each calendar year, 1 winter parka (32 points) every 5 years. $53 per year for employees required to wear headwear for religious reasons. $120 per year for uniform cleaning and black footwear. Welders and body repair mechanics receive 1 pair of leather gloves as required. Maintenance, foreman, stockroom employees get access to 8 clean suits of coveralls or 8 clean sets of work shirts and pants every 2 weeks.

Tool allowance: $1,000 for automotive mechanics and component mechanics (air and hydraulic) (previously $900). $700 for body repair mechanics (previously $525). $600 for electronic technicians, electrical systems mechanics, and component mechanics (electrical) (previously ($450). $400 for plant millwrights (previously $300). $347 for HVAC mechanics (previously $260). $300 for maintainers (plant) (previously $225). $200 for heating mechanics, plant electricians and carpenters (previously $150). $147 for maintainers (farebox and brakes) and upholsterers (previously ($110). $100 for tire repairer and installers (previously $75).

Editor’s notes: Free transportation: Free transportation for all employees over regular routes of city and in accordance with its published schedules of operation. Medical exam: All new permanent employees, employees returned from extended leave of absence, employees recalled from extended layoff, or employees returning from sick leave in excess of 10 working days must provide medical clearance from physician. Driver’s license: Employees required to operate vehicle defined as bus under Highway Traffic Act must have CZ license.
