Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2021 to Dec. 31, 2023. Ratified in February 2021. Signed on Jan. 22, 2021.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 0.75%

Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 1.25%

Effective Jan. 1, 2023: 1.5%

Shift premium: $1.30 per hour for all hours worked on Saturday and Sunday; all hours worked Monday to Friday before 6 a.m. and after 6 p.m. (previously $1.20 per hour). $1.40 per hour for employees who in performance of duties are requested by employer to use language other than English.

Paid holidays: 12 days for full-time employees (11 if Remembrance Day doesn’t fall on regularly scheduled working day). Employees at Rideaucrest Home, with exception of office staff, receive 1 floater day in exchange for Easter Monday.

Vacations with pay: 1 working day for each month of employment completed up to 10 days to start, 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 3 years, 4 weeks after 7 years, 5 weeks after 16 years, 6 weeks after 25 years, 1 additional day each year after 25th year up to 5 additional days.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all time worked beyond employee’s regular scheduled hours. Double time for overtime hours on Sunday. Time and one-half for hours worked on holiday.

Meal allowance: $12 for employees who work at least 2 hours before or beyond normal daily shift.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for extended health care plan.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for plan equivalent to Blue Cross #9, up to $3,000 per insured person per year.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of plan for up to $375 every 24 months and $125 for eye exam and $1,000 for elective laser vision correction procedures, per employee and each dependant.

Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of up to $550 per year per employee and each dependant. 50/50 shared cost for orthodontics up to $2,000 per person.

Sick leave: 7 paid days per calendar year with no carryover.

STD: Employer pays full cost of plan after 2-day waiting period, up to 17 weeks. Employees with 4 months of service receive 1 week at 100% salary and 16 weeks at 66 2/3% of salary. Weeks at 100% salary increase with each year of service up to 17 weeks with 10 years of service.

LTD: Employer provides plan providing 75% of employee’s current salary up to $4,000 per month following 17 weeks of disability up to first 2 years of disability After 2 years, must be unable to perform any occupation.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2 times annual salary rounded down to nearest $500. 50% reduction at age 65. Employer stops paying at age 70. Optional insurance can be purchases of $10,000 spousal and $5,000 child life insurance.

Pension: OMERS plan provided to employees.

Bereavement leave: 5 working days for death of spouse, parent, stepparent, child, stepchild, sibling, stepsibling. 3 working days for death of grandparent, grandchild, parent-in-law, child-in-law, sibling-in-law. 1 working day for death of grandparent-in-law. Up to 2 days may be saved for future use to attend internment or service. 1 paid day to attend funeral as pallbearer.

Seniority – recall rights: 18 months.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours at appropriate overtime rate.

Probationary period: 4 months for full-time employees. 560 to 640 hours or 9 months, depending on classification, for part-time employees. 960 hours or 9 months for part-time bus operators. May be extended for 60 days once per employee with notice to union.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for letters of discipline; 24 months for disciplinary suspensions.

Safety shoes: $185 per year for full-time employees and $100 per year for part-time employees for CSA approved boots or shoes. $110 per year to bus operators for non-skid black or brown shoes.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer provides special clothing such as rubber boots, rubber suits, safety hats, rain suits and hats, gloves, lined gloves in winter. Employees in visibility-sensitive work who require safety T-shirts receive 5 safety 5-shirts, 1 orange spring jacket, 1 orange winter parka, 1 pair orange bib coveralls, and 1 pair orange coveralls or hoodie. Employees who work outside more than 90 days per year and janitor and print shop employees receive $250 per year clothing allowance. Rideaucrest staff receive $180 per year for hospital type clothing. Bus operators receive 4 pairs pants/shorts, 6 long-sleeve/short-sleeve shirts, 1 spring/fall jacket, 1 winter coat, 1 long-sleeved sweater or vest.

Tool allowance: Each mechanic receives up to $750 per year to update tools and tool chest. $300 for apprentice mechanics.
