Wage adjustments:
May 1, 2020: $0.69 per hour
May 1, 2021: $0.72 per hour
Shift premium: $1 per hour for work performed on regularly scheduled second shift. $25 per employee per day when crew is required to carry forms longer than 8 feet and crew works more than 3 hours on that day.
Paid holidays: 10 days
Vacations with pay: 10% of gross earnings on behalf of each employee covered will be remitted monthly to Labourers’ International Union of North America, Local 183 Members’ Holiday and Vacation Pay Fund. Payments from fund will be made to employees in first 2 weeks of June, November in each year.
Overtime: Board area 8, Whitby, Oshawa, Simcoe County: Time and one-half regular rate for work performed in excess of 12 hours per day Monday to Friday and all Saturday work, except for work done on shift basis, where shift premium will apply. Board areas 9, 10, 11, 12, Muskoka district: Time and one-half regular rate for work performed in excess of 10 hours per day Monday to Friday and all Saturday work. Double time for Sundays and holidays.
Medical benefits: Employer contributes $3.30 per hour to Local 183 Members’ Benefit Fund. Effective May 1, 2020: $3.45 per hour. Effective May 1, 2020: $3.60 per hour.
Dental: Employer contributes $3.30 per hour to Local 183 Members’ Benefit Fund. Effective May 1, 2020: $3.45 per hour. Effective May 1, 2020: $3.60 per hour.
Weekly indemnity: Employer contributes $3.30 per hour to Local 183 Members’ Benefit Fund. Effective May 1, 2020: $3.45 per hour. Effective May 1, 2020: $3.60 per hour.
LTD: Employer contributes $0.60 per hour to Local 183 Members’ Benefit Fund.

Pension: Employer contributes $9.25 per hour to Labourers’ Pension Fund of Central and Eastern Canada. Effective May 1, 2020: $9.40 per hour. Effective May 1, 2020: $9.70 per hour.
Safety shoes: Maximum $250 per year per employee.
Uniforms/clothing: Every employee will, as condition of employment, own and wear suitable protective footwear and other personal protective equipment required in normal course of duties (does not include raincoats, other protective clothing where employee is required to work under abnormal conditions or during inclement weather).
Tool allowance: Company provides all tools necessary to perform work except pouch, hammer, tape, knife (previously employer paid $30 per month as tool allowance). Employees will be reimbursed, maximum $300, for loss of tools related to job, clothing and other personal property, due to fire or theft in areas designated for storage of such items.
Mileage: $0.45 per kilometre for travelling outside specified area with own vehicle, $15 per day for travelling outside specified area with company vehicle. Employer will provide transportation to all employees from employer’s yard to job site, and back to yard (additional $25 per day for employee driving employer-supplied truck).

Editor’s notes: Shelter: Employer will provide proper, adequate place of shelter sufficiently heated in which employees may eat lunch (company trucks will suffice if heated). Where employees are required to report to shop or yard prior to commencing work, employees will be provided with clean and sanitary change area separate from any other equipment. Employer will provide cool, fresh drinking water as required by Occupational Health and Safety Act. Travel allowance: For travel requiring employees to be out of town overnight, $100 per day, maximum $500 (or $600 for 6-day week). Reporting pay: 2 hours of paid reporting time if employee is directed to job site and work is not available because of inclement weather, if employee remains on site for 1 hour after designated starting time to determine if weather will change. Non-payment of wages: Upon any failure by employer to pay wages, employer will pay amount to union equivalent to 20% of employees’ pay, maximum $1,000, as liquidated damages and not as penalty for breach (75% of damages will be donated by union to charity mutually selected by parties). Central and Eastern Canada Organizing Fund (CECOF): Employer will contribute $0.25 for each hour worked to CECOF. Prepaid legal plan: Employer will pay $0.10 for each hour worked by each employee to Labourers’ Local 183 Prepaid Legal Benefits Fund. Parking: Employer will provide safe, secure parking at its yard for employee vehicles.
