Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2019 to April 30, 2022. Signed on July 9, 2020.
Shift premium: $2 per hour in second portion of split shift (when employee is asked to work spilt shift). Time and one-half for work on shifts that have been increased without 48 hours of notice. Double time if employee works on scheduled day off with less than 24 hours of notice, minimum 3 hours of work. $1 per hour (previously $0.84 per hour) for afternoon shifts (that begins after 2:30 p.m.), $1.20 per hour (previously $1.05 per hour) for night shifts (that begins after 11:30 p.m.) for employees in facilities department. $1 per hour for employee designated as shift leader.
Paid holidays: 13 days. Employer will schedule winter break from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day inclusive.
Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month to start, 15 days after 1 year, 20 days after 2 years, 25 days after 7 years, 40 days after 10 years (in tenth year only), 25 days after 11 years, 40 days after 20 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 75 hours per consecutive 2-week period. Time and one-half for work after 8 hours per day; double time after 10 hours of work per day. May be taken as time off in lieu. Double time after 50 hours per week.
Meal allowance: Employees will be given meal or meal reimbursement for employees who work unscheduled overtime (maximum $15 for breakfast, $20 for lunch, $30 for dinner).
Medical benefits: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums. Employees will pay 0.4% of salary, maximum $1.76 per month for employee assistance program. Employer will provide $300 for wellness spending account.
Dental: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums.
Vision: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums.
Weekly indemnity: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
Sick leave: 1.5 days per month of service for full-time; 2.5 days for every 20 hours worked for part-time. May accrue, maximum 90 days.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 90% of premiums, employee pays 10% of premiums.
Pension: Employer, employee will contribute 7% each to group RRSP.
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death of parent, spouse, sibling, child, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, former guardian, co-habitant fiancé, fiancée, any second-degree relative who has been residing in same household. Maximum 6 days if burial takes place outside province. 1 day per year to act as pallbearer. Maximum 1 day per year to attend funeral of close friend or relative not listed.
Seniority – recall rights: Employee will not lose seniority rights if they are absent from work because of sickness, accident, layoff, leave of absence approved by employer.
Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours of pay at overtime rates.
Probationary period: 6 months for full-time employees; 975 work hours from start date or for 12 months from start date, whichever is less, for part-time employees. Period may be extended by 487 work hours or for 6 months, whichever is less.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for suspensions or letters of reprimand.
Severance: 1 week’s pay for each 6 months of service (after 6 months of service), maximum 26 weeks’ salary for those employees declared redundant. 2 weeks’ pay after 6 months of service; 3 weeks’ pay after 2 years of service; 5 weeks’ pay after 4 years of service; 6 weeks’ pay after 6 years of service; 7 weeks’ pay after 8 years of service; 9 weeks of pay after 10 years of service if employer terminates employee without just cause.
Safety shoes: $150 every 2 years; $100 every 2 years.

Editor’s notes: Meetings: Minimum 3 hours at regular wage for staff required to attend staff meetings outside of scheduled shift. Retirement benefit: $5,250 for employee who retires (must be 55 years old and have 15 years of service). Household leave: Employees will be allowed leave of absence with pay of 1 day per year to move household; 3 days per year due to natural disaster (fire or flood) which affects their home. On-call rates: 4 hours per day from Monday to Friday; 6 hours per day from Saturday to Sunday; 8 hours per day on holidays. All hours worked will be paid at overtime rates.
