Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2022. Ratified on May 8, 2019. Signed on Aug. 21, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Labourer 1 student
Effective Jan. 2020: 1%

Shift premium: $1.50 per hour for all hours worked (other than overtime) that fall between 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. $1.25 per hour (previously $1 per hour) for employees working in direct contact with raw sewage (with exception of plant operators). $1.25 per hour (previously $1 per hour) for employees engaged in pesticide and herbicide spraying.

Paid holidays: 12 days. Employees will receive one-half day away from work with pay for Dec. 24 if it falls on normal day of work.

Vacations with pay: 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks after 7 years, 5 weeks after 15 years, 6 weeks after 25 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 10 hours per day of 80 hour per 14 days. Time and one-half for all work on employee’s day off.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums. Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums for Alberta Health Care fees.

Dental: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums. 100% coverage for basic services, preventative, diagnostic, endodontic, periodontal, oral surgery. 50% coverage for removable prosthetics (dentures), orthodontics (dependent children to 21), major restorative.

Vision: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums.

LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Pension: Every eligible employee will join Local Authorities Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of relative (mother, father, brother, sister, wife, husband, common-law spouse, child, foster-child, guardian, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparent of employee). 2 additional days when travel in excess of 400 kilometres each way is necessary.

Seniority – recall rights: 1 year following layoff.

Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours’ pay at overtime rates (unless employee is on standby duty).

Probationary period: 6 months (accumulation of 15 or more days of absence from work will be added to probationary period).

Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for past warning notices, discipline imposed against employee.

Safety shoes: Maximum $175 per year (on 50% employer, 50% employee basis) for CSA-approved protective footwear.

Uniforms/clothing: Personal protective equipment, as required by employer (excepting protective footwear, winter coveralls) will be issued to employees by employer. Employer will make contribution toward purchase of winter coveralls (on 50% employer, 50% employee basis). Employer will supply reflective winter coat.

Tool allowance: $1,000 per year for chief mechanic/welder; $600 per year for assistant mechanic; $300 per year for mechanic’s helper.

Editor’s notes: Long-service benefit: 20 days’ bonus to employee upon retirement, resignation, permanent lay-off at current rate of pay upon 10th anniversary of employment. Additional 2 days’ upon each annual anniversary date of employment thereafter. Standby duty: $50 per day. Employee called out while on standby duty will be paid at time and one-half for all hours worked.
