Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2019 to April 30, 2022. Ratified in November 2020. Signed on March 22, 2021.
Wage adjustments:

Shift premium: $0.75 per hour for work between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. $0.83 per hour for weekend work between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. $0.95 per hour for night work between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Paid holidays: 11 days. If Dec. 23 or 24 fall on Saturday or Sunday, floating leave days are granted in following calendar year: 1 full day for Dec. 23 and 1 half-day for Dec. 24.
Vacations with pay: 15 days to start, 16 days after 1 year, 20 days after 5 years, 21 days after 11 years, 22 days after 13 years, 23 days after 15 years, 24 days after 17 years, 25 days after 18 years, 26 days after 26 days after 21 years, 27 days after 24 years, 30 days after 25 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for each hour worked beyond regular workday or workweek and all work performed on statutory holiday. Can be banked as time off up to 70 hours per year. Term employees accumulate 1.25 days per month.
Meal allowance: $12 after working 2 consecutive hours of overtime and after each 4 consecutive hours thereafter.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 92% of premiums, employee pays 8% of premiums for extended health care plan.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for basic dental insurance plan. Employees can add optional dental insurance at own expense.
Paramedical: Employees have access to health care spending account.
Sick leave: 1 day per month up to 3 working days for employees with at least 3 months of service, up to 119 days.
LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for basic plan providing 60% of regular base salary. Employees can add optional program at their own expense.
AD&D: Employee pays 100% of premiums for optional coverage.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for first $25,000 of coverage and dependant life insurance. Optional life insurance is available.
Pension: Employees’ contribution rate to University of Ottawa Pension Plan will not exceed employer’s contribution (50/50).
Bereavement leave: 5 paid days for death of parent, foster parent, sibling, spouse, child, stepchild, parent-in-law. 3 paid days for death of grandchild of employee or employee’s spouse. 1 additional paid day if funeral is more than 320 kilometres from Ottawa. 1 paid day for death of sibling-in-law, grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, child-in-law of employee or spouse. 1 day may be delayed to attend burial or cremation later.
Seniority – recall rights: 6 months; 24 months for absence from work due to workplace accident or occupational disease and for temporary assignment in position excluded from bargaining unit or absence from work for permanent or elected union duties within union.
Call-in pay: Greater of 4 hours’ pay at straight-time rate or time-and-one-half for hours worked. 30 minutes’ regular pay at straight time rate for every 4-hour on-call period.
Probationary period: 6 months. May be extended by 3 months if necessary for valid reasons. If employee must be off work for longer than 10 working days, probationary period will be extended by same period.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months.
Severance: Employee who refuses reasonable job offer, temporary assignment, or bumping right receives 1 week’s salary for every year of full-time continuous service plus 1/12th of 1 week’s salary for each month of continuous service in excess of full years. Employee who has not found new position during 6-month employment priority period receives lump sum equal to 6 months of regular base salary plus 1 week’s salary for each year of full-time continuous service and 1/12th of 1 week’s salary for each month of continuous service in excess of full years. Employee hired before Nov. 16, 2020 receive retirement allowance
Uniforms/clothing: Uniforms, clothing, and equipment deemed necessary for employees to perform their duties will be provided by employer.

Editor’s notes: Summer hours: To allow employees to work reduced hours during summer months, normal workweek from Sept. 1 to May 31 is 36.25 hours and from June 1 to Aug. 31, 31.25 hours, for average of 35 hours per week. Wedding leave: Once during employment at university, 5 paid days for own wedding. Temporary shutdown: When university decides to authorize majority of employees to leave work before end of normal workday or to stay home, employees will not lose any salary. Sports facilities: Employees have free basic access to Montpetit Hall sports facilities. Immediate family members also have access under same conditions if they are accompanied by employee.
