Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2021. Signed on Sept. 30, 2019.
Wage adjustments:
Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 2%
Effective second-year of agreement: 1.75%
Effective third-year of agreement: 1.5%
Shift premium: $1.50 per hour for lead-hands.
Paid holidays: 13 days.
Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month or 15 days to start, 1.67 days per month or 20 days after 2 years, 2.08 days per month or 25 days after 5 years, 2.5 days per month or 30 days after 10 years, 2.91 days per month or 35 days after 15 years. On termination of employment, employee will be paid out all accrued but unused vacation-leave credits.
Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week; double time after 2 hours of overtime. Time may be banked, maximum 10 days (overtime or standby hours earned after 10 days have been banked will be paid out).
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for plans arranged through Association of Yukon Communities (AYC).
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Weekly indemnity: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
Sick leave: 1 day per month, maximum 24 days.
STD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Pension: After 30 days of employment, employee will be required to participate (as condition of employment) in retirement program, provided in lieu of pension plan. Employer will contribute 6.5% (matched by employer). Effective third year of agreement: 7%.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family; 6 days if attending funeral (spouse (including common-law), mother, father, sister, brother, stepfather, stepmother, stepsibling, foster-parent, grandparent, grandchild, aunt, uncle, spouse, son, daughter, stepchild, ward of employee, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, any relative residing in employee’s household).
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoffs.
Probationary period: 6 months.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years for discipline of employee.
Safety shoes: $175 per year.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide and pay for all protective devices, clothing, other equipment necessary to protect employees from injury and unhealthy conditions. Employer will undertake proper cleaning and maintenance of all safety equipment, devices, clothing at no cost to employees. Public works employees (including landfill/recycling) will receive overalls (winter/summer) every 2 years, winter safety rubber boots, hard hats, safety rubber gloves, gloves, multi-season coat every 2 years.

Editor’s notes: Long-service leave: Long-service employees will be awarded 1 additional week of vacation on 20th, 25th, 30th years of service. Travel time: After 1 year of service, employee will be given 3 days’ travel time once per year. Maximum of 3 days of travel time may be carried over to next fiscal year. Flight allowance: $2,242 per year (previously $2,000 per year) on each anniversary of employment. Health and wellness leave: Additional 1 day per fiscal year for personal wellness leave. Unused days will not be carried forward to next year or paid out at end of year. Standby pay: 1 hour’s pay at straight-time for standby subsequent to regular work day; 1 hour’s pay at time and one-half for standby on day of rest or general holiday. First aid: Employees who are required to attend first aid and safety training courses will be given leave with pay for training. Employer will pay for course fees and tuition. Personal cellphones: Employees who use personal cellphones (instead of phones provided by employer) for employer business will be provided with $35 per month to defray costs.
