Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2025. Signed on Jan. 27, 2023.
Shift premium: $1.50 per hour for afternoon shift that ends between 6 p.m. and midnight. $2 per hour for night shift that ends between 12:01 a.m. and 8 a.m. 1 hour straight-time pay for each Saturday or Sunday worked for employees whose normal work week includes work on Saturday or Sunday. $120 per month for employee who possesses valid level 2 first-aid certificate.
Paid holidays: 13 days, including National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Overtime: Double time for all time worked beyond 7 hours per day; all time worked beyond 35 hours per week; all time worked on rest day. May be taken as time in lieu but must be taken within 6 months or cash payment will be made.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Vision: Maximum $400 every 2 years.
Sick leave: 1.5 days of sick leave per month during probationary period. At completion of period, employee will receive additional 12 days sick leave in advance, prorated to June 1 and further 18 days on June 1 thereafter. Maximum 120 days of accrual of unused sick leave per year.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of parent, wife, husband, common-law spouse, brother, sister, child, grandparent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, foster-children, stepchildren.
Seniority – recall rights: 1 year for sickness or WorkSafe BC; 5 years while in receipt of LTD benefits. 1 year to start; rights are extended by 1 month for each year of service after 5 years, maximum 24 months.
Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours at overtime rates and paid from time employee leaves home to report for duty until time employee arrives back upon proceeding directly from work.
Probationary period: First 560 hours of employment.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for formal disciplinary notices.
Severance: 1 week of pay at regular rate for every completed year of service, maximum 12 weeks’ pay.
Safety shoes: $250 in every 12-month period (previously $250 in every 24-month period) for CSA-approved footwear for employee required by WorkSafe BC Act or regulations or as required by employer to wear safety footwear.
