Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2023. Signed on Jan. 1, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective 2019: 2%

Effective 2020: 2%

Effective 2021: 2%

Effective 2022: 2.5%

Effective 2023: 2.5%

Shift premium: Employee will be paid higher pay position if employee has worked at least 2 full days or 2 full shifts in higher capacity. $1 per hour for all hours worked, including overtime hours, between 4 p.m. and 7 a.m. for field maintenance technicians, winter maintenance technicians, airfield maintenance lead-hands. $0.75 per hour for all hours worked, including overtime hours, on Saturday, Sunday, general holidays for field maintenance technicians, winter maintenance technicians, airfield maintenance lead-hands.

Paid holidays: 9 days, including Remembrance Day (employee may be allowed to take day or shift in lieu of Remembrance Day but must be in same calendar year).

Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month after 1 year, 1.67 days per month after 8 years, 2.09 days per month after 15 years, 2.5 days per month after 30 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work in excess of scheduled daily hours of work for first day or shift worked; double time for all work thereafter on second or subsequent day or shift of overtime. May be taken as leave with pay. If leave cannot be taken by Dec. 31 of each year, payment in cash will be made.

Meal allowance: $10 (without receipts), $18 (with receipts) (previously $17 with receipts) for employee who works at least 3 hours of overtime, except when free meal can be provided. $100 when employee works regularly scheduled shift on Dec. 25.

Pension: Canadian Airport Authorities and Canadian Port Authorities Pension Plan. Employees may contribute 0% to 6.5% of pensionable earnings, employer will match contributions, maximum 6.5%.

Bereavement leave: 4 days for death of spouse (including common-law), parents, spouse of father or mother (including common-law spouse), children, brother, father-in-law (including common-law), mother-in-law (including common-law), grandparent, any relative residing in employee’s household. 1 day for death of grandparent of employee’s spouse (including common-law). Employee may be eligible for leave up to 2 months from date of death.

Seniority – recall rights: 1 year.

Call-in pay: Greater of 3 hours of pay for each call-in, maximum 8 hours per 8-hour period or all pay at overtime rate, provided period is not contiguous to employee’s normal work hours.

Probationary period: 12 months.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years for any document related to disciplinary action.

Severance: 1 week’s pay for each year of service. For employees grandfathered from Sept. 1, 1997: 2 weeks’ pay for first year of service, 1 week’s pay for each of following years of service on first layoff; 1  week’s pay for each year of service on second layoff. For resignations (with 10 years of service): One-half week’s pay for each year of service, maximum 26 years, maximum 13 weeks’ pay.

Safety shoes: $150 per year (previously $100 per year; $200 every 2 years) for CSA-approved footwear.

Uniforms/clothing: After 6 months of service, employee will receive 3 pairs of pants, 6 shirts of employee’s choice (short- or long-sleeve), 1 sweatshirt, 1 winter jacket. Employer will provide, replace, all clothing, safety equipment required. Employer will provide coveralls, parkas, bunker gear, welding masks, safety goggles, breathing apparatus or protection. Employer may provide laundry services for coveralls, parkas, bunker gear.

Travel: Time and one-half, maximum 8 hours, when employee travels out of town for employer business on day of rest. Standby pay: $22 for each 8 hours on standby. Retirement: When employee is entitled to annuity or allowance under Canadian Airports Council Superannuation Plan, employee will receive 1 week’s pay for each year of service. Physical fitness: Employer will pay 50% of employee’s membership fees to registered fitness facility. Employee will be offered $250 incentive for each year that employee’s body-mass index is classed in normal weight category (18.5 to 24.9) or employee’s waist-to-hip ratio (circumference of waist divided by circumference of hip) is less than 0.8 for women, 1 for men.
