Renewal agreement: Effective July 8, 2018 to July 7, 2021. Ratified in May 2019. Signed on May 2, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective July 8, 2018: 1.8%

Effective July 8, 2019: 1.5%

Effective July 8, 2020: 1.4%

Shift premium: $2.70 per hour for each hour on shift starting after 11:59 p.m. Friday and ending before 1 a.m. on Monday. $1.55 per hour for each hour worked after 6 p.m. Time and one half for each hour worked after commencement of employee’s next scheduled shift until 12 hours have elapsed since end of employee’s last scheduled shift (when it is impossible to schedule 12 hours off between scheduled shifts).

Paid holidays: 11 days including 1 float day (employer will pay out 1 day’s wages for float days not taken).

Vacations with pay: 1 2/3 days for each completed month of service to start, 20 days after 1 year, 25 days after 15 years, 30 days after 20 years, 35 days after 27 years (for full-time employees only).

Overtime: Time and one-half for each hour worked in excess of 7 per day; all hours worked on holiday; hours worked less than 12 hours after previous shift. Can be taken as lieu time, maximum 14 hours of banked time.

Medical: Employer pays 85% of premiums, employee pays 15% of premiums for comprehensive medical protection plan.

Vision: Employer pays 85% of premiums, employee pays 15% of premiums. $350 per insured person (previously $300 per insured person) every 24 months (which may also be used for laser eye surgery). $50 per covered person every consecutive 24-month period for eye examinations.

Paramedical: $500 per covered person per year for physiotherapy. Cumulative maximum $300 per person per year for chiropractic, osteopath, podiatrist, chiropodist, naturopath. $200 per covered person per year for speech pathologist, clinical psychologist, massage therapy.

Dental: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums for dental plan. Coverage of $1,500 per person per year. Rider #2 or equivalent which includes coverage for complete and partial dentures, 50/50 co-insurance, maximum $1,000 per person per year. Rider #4 or equivalent for crowns, bridgework, repairs, 50/50 co-insurance, maximum $1,000 per person per year.

Sick leave: No specified limit.

STD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage up to 24 weeks.

LTD: Employer pays 60% of premiums, employee pays 40% of premiums.

AD&D: Employer pays 60% of premiums, employee pays 40% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employer pays 60% of premiums, employee pays 40% of premiums.

Pension: Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).

Bereavement leave: 5 regularly scheduled consecutive workdays for death of spouse, parent, child, grandparent, grandchild, sibling, parent-in-law, child-in-law, sibling-in-law. Can be distributed over 2 occasions to accommodate religious and cultural diversity. 1 day to attend funeral or memorial service of person with whom employee had significant personal relationship. Up to 5 additional days without pay may be taken immediately following regular bereavement leave.

Seniority – recall rights: 13 weeks for layoffs; 12 months for employee who is transferred to position outside of bargaining unit (18 months where employee is filling in for pregnancy or parental leave). 1 year for employee who is seconded to position involving health-care sector or broader public sector (if secondment extends beyond 2 years, employee will retain but not accumulate seniority).

Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours’ pay for reporting to work and no work available.

Probationary period: 95 shifts or 665 hours worked since date of last hiring. May be extended upon agreement.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for disciplinary notations.

Severance: Employment Standards Act minimums.

Mileage: $0.50 per kilometre for use of personal vehicle for business. Cost of public transportation or authorized taxi service as required by employee while on duty for performance of duties will be paid by employer.

Editor’s notes: Liability insurance: Employees pays 100% of premiums for coordinators, physiotherapists, speech-language pathologists and social workers. Cellphones:  Employer provides cellphones to care coordinators who work in community. Standby pay: $2.50 per hour for standby duty. Time and one-half for hours worked on standby duty. $3 per to remain on-call for telephone work and time and one-half for hours worked on-call. $4 per hour for standby for telephone work on holiday. Hearing aids: $500 per person every 36 months (previously $500 lifetime per person) for hearing aids, after 3 continuous months of employment. Professional liability insurance: Employer will pay 100% of premium cost of professional liability insurance for employees employed as coordinators, physiotherapists, speech-language pathologists, social workers. Education leave: When employees are required by employer to take courses, employer will pay 100% of tuition and will pay employees regular pay for time during instruction of courses.
