Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019, to Dec. 31, 2021. Ratified on Nov. 21, 2018. Signed on Dec. 12, 2018.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 1.5%

Effective Jan. 1, 2020: 1.75%

Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 2%

Shift premium: $1.50 per hour (previously $1.10 per hour) for all hours worked between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Paid holidays: 12 days, plus 1 day prior to Christmas.

Vacations with pay: 3 weeks to start, 4 weeks after 6 years, 5 weeks after 13 years, 6 weeks after 20 years. Maximum 1 week may be carried forward into following year.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 7 or 8 hours per day or 35 or 40 hours per week. Time and one-half for all work on scheduled day off. May be taken as time off in lieu, maximum 53 hours for outside workers, 46 hours for inside workers. All banked time not taken by last pay period in December will be paid out on first pay period of new year.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums for Alberta Health Care Plan. Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums for group health plan. Employer pays 100% of premiums for employee assistance program. Employer will provide $475 per year for health spending account.

Dental: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums.

Vision: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums.

Sick leave: 1 day per month (previously 1.5 days per month), maximum 60 days.

STD: Benefits are mandatory after completion of probationary period. Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums.

LTD: Benefits are mandatory after completion of probationary period. Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums.

Life insurance: Benefits are mandatory after completion of probationary period. Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums.

Pension: Every employee will join Local Authorities Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of mother, father, brother, sister, wife, husband, common-law spouse, same-gender partner, child, foster-child, guardian, mother-in-law, father-in-law, stepchildren, stepparents, grandparents, employee’s spouse’s grandparents; 5 days for travel in excess of kilometres 1 way.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours pay at overtime rate or actual time worked, whichever is greater.

Probationary period: 3 months (or full-time hour equivalent).

Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months.

Severance: 1 after 3 months of service; 2 weeks’ after 2 years of service; 4 weeks’ after 4 years of service; 5 weeks’ after 6 years of service; 6 weeks’ after 8 years of service; 8 weeks’ after 10 years of service.

Safety shoes: $200 per year for protective footwear.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide safety equipment including approved eye protection, safety goggles, hearing protection, gloves, hard hats, safety vests, coveralls as required.

Editor’s notes: Driver’s abstracts: New employees will, at own expense, provide employer with driver’s abstract. Employer will pay for abstract if current employees are required to produce driver’s abstract. Standby duty: $210 per week. Minimum 2 hours’ pay at overtime rate or actual time worked, whichever is greater, when employee is called to work. Employee will be paid at overtime rate if performing facility, equipment checks. Minimum of 1 hour of pay at overtime rate or actual time worked for employees who do daily (rounds) maintenance checks.
