Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2024, to Dec. 31, 2027.
Wage adjustments:
Effective Jan. 1, 2025: 2%
Effective Jan. 1, 2026: 1.75%
Effective Jan. 1, 2027: 1.75%
Paid holidays: 13 days.
Vacations with pay: 11 days after 1 year, 15 days after 2 years, 20 days after 7 days, 25 days after 15 years, 30 days after 20 years.
Overtime: Time and one half.
Medical benefits: 100% employer paid for employee benefit services. $200 healthcare spending account annually. $175 health and wellness account annually.
Dental: 75% employer paid.
Vision: 100% employer paid.
Sick leave: 2 days to start, 1.5 days accrued each month to a maximum of 18 days.
STD: 100% employer paid.
LTD: 100% employer paid.
AD&D: 100% employer paid.
Life insurance: 100% employer paid.
Pension: Pension plan compulsory after 1 year of employment in accordance with the Local Authorities Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for the death of an immediate family member for permanent employees. 3 days for seasonal employees.
Call-in pay: Minimum compensation equal to 4 regular hours pay or the applicable overtime rate for the time worked, whichever is greater.
Probationary period: 6 months.
Severance: 2 weeks’ notice, or severance pay on the basis of 2 weeks' pay at the regular rate for the position last occupied for each year of employment to a maximum of 26 weeks for permanent employees if the employer ceases operations wholly or partly the operations or merges with another employer.
Safety shoes: The employer shall provide rubber boots and rubber suits as required to all outside employees. The employer shall provide an allowance of $175.00 dollars per year towards the purchase of safety footwear to all employees following completion of their probationary period.
Uniforms/clothing: Employees working in environments where identification is advantageous will be provided with suitable t-shirts, or jackets and hats. The Animal Control/Bylaw Enforcement Officer shall be provided uniforms.
Sample rates of pay (current, after increase):
Bvlaw Enforcement Officer – Start Rate: $33.44, up 3 steps to $35.31.
Water Treatment Plant Operator – Start Rate: $35.03, up 3 steps to $36.99.
Editor’s notes: Employees who are on standby shall earn $27.50 per day Monday to Friday and $37.50 per day weekends and holidays, plus minimum compensation equal to 2 hours regular pay for each call-out or the applicable overtime rate for the hours worked, whichever is greater.
