Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2021. Ratified on May 30, 2019. Signed on July 18, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 1.75%

Effective Jan. 1, 2020: 1.75%

Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 2%

Shift premium: $2 per hour when employee relieves supervisory position. $2 per hour for all hours worked as lead-hand.

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: 10 days after 1 year, 15 days after 2 years, 20 days after 7 years, 25 days after 14 years, 30 days after 20 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week for outside workers; 7 hours per day or 35 hours per week for office staff. May be banked, maximum 80 hours. May be taken as time off in lieu. Will be paid out by year end; however, 120 hours of banked overtime may be carried over for special circumstances.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums for Alberta Urban Municipality Association benefit plan.

Dental: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums.

Vision: $300 per year for prescription glasses, contact lenses.

Sick leave: 2 days per month, maximum 120 days.

LTD: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums.

Pension: All permanent full-time employees will participate in Local Authorities Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (spouse, parents, sisters, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, children, stepparents, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, grandparents, stepchildren, brothers, father-in-law, son-in-law, stepgrandparents. 1 additional day if employee travels outside of Alberta or more than 750 kilometres away. Leave without pay may be granted or employee may take vacation or sick leave with pay to attend funeral as pallbearer for 1 day.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.

Call-in pay: Paid at basic rate for all hours worked or 3 hours at time and one-half basic rate of pay, whichever is greater.

Probationary period: 90 calendar days.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months.

Severance: 1 week after 3 months of service; 2 weeks after 2 years of service; 4 weeks after 4 years of service; 5 weeks after 6 years of service; 6 weeks after 8 years of service; 8 weeks after 10 years of service.

Safety shoes: Employer will supply 2 pairs of work boots per year (summer and winter), maximum $250 for both.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will be responsible for supplying or reimbursing all personal safety equipment, except for prescription safety goggles. Employer will supply 1 pair of coveralls per year, maximum $100.

Public works operator

Editor’s notes: Various forms: Employer, due to specific position requirements, may require employee to submit to medical assessment performed by physician and costs will be borne by employer. Same will apply for driver’s abstract, criminal record checks, children’s protection checks. Standby: $1.75 per hour (previously $1.50 per hour) for each hour of standby served. $2.25 per hour for each hour of standby served on off-days. Automobile allowance: $100 per week, or $20 per day, for maintenance employees who use personal vehicles for employer business purposes during summer (May through September).
