Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2021 to Dec. 31, 2023. Ratified on Feb. 4, 2021. Signed on March 3, 2021.

Wage adjustments:

Effective 2021: 0%

Effective 2022: 0.5%

Effective 2023: 0.%

Shift premium: $2.50 per hour for all hours worked in classification when employee is assigned to fulfill duties of higher-rated classification (for more than 1 day) within bargaining unit; $3.50 per hour when employee is assigned to higher classification for more than 1 month. $1.50 per hour for all hours worked between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. Employer will pay employee overtime for all hours worked on first shift when employer changes regular hours of work of employee with less than 7 days’ notice.

Paid holidays: 12 days, plus 1 Christmas float day.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 2 years, 4 weeks after 7 years, 5 weeks after 14 years, 6 weeks after 21 years. Employee will be permitted to carry over maximum of 5 days of vacation entitlement from 1 year to next.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 7.5 hours per day or 37.5 hours per week for inside workers. Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week for outside workers. Time and one-half for all work on Sundays or statutory holiday for waste management employees. Time and one-half for first 4 hours of overtime on given day and double time thereafter. Time may be banked and taken as time off in lieu, maximum 40 hours. Overtime accumulated prior to Dec. 1 of any year must be scheduled prior to Dec. 1 and taken prior to Dec. 31 of that year or it will be paid out.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $50 per month (previously $100 per month) for health-related expenses for term employee who works more than 3 months but not greater than 12 months.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Weekly indemnity: Employee pays 100% of premiums.

Sick leave: 1 day for every month of work, maximum 48 work days. Employees who retire or resign will receive from employer pay-out of accumulated sick bank: 50% pay-out of accumulated sick days after 20 years of service.

LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Pension: Following 3 months of service, all permanent employees who work 25 hours per week or more will participate in Local Authorities Pension Plan, with contributions by employee and employer as determined by plan.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of spouse (including common-law spouse, same-gender partner), child, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, parent, spouse’s parent. 3 days for death of grandparents of spouse, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law. 2 additional days if employee is required to travel more than 300 kilometres 1-way. 1 day to attend funeral of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months for continuous layoff due to lack of work.

Call-in pay: Minimum guarantee of 2 hours of pay at overtime rates.

Probationary period: 90 days (period may be extended maximum 2 additional months).

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for letters of discipline.

Safety shoes: $150 per year for all outside employees to purchase safety footwear (CSA-approved). Unused amount may be carried over to following year, maximum $150.

Uniforms/clothing: $800 per year for outside employees to purchase high-visibility work clothing, coveralls, insulated coveralls, winter wear, gloves, wet gear. Unused amount may be carried over to following year, maximum $200.
