Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2024 . Ratified on Oct. 3, 2021. Signed on Oct. 16, 2021.

Shift premium: Double time when employee works with less than 8 hours of rest between shifts. 5% of base pay or difference between regular salary and minimum base pay for higher level position, whichever is greater, when employee assumes duties and responsibilities of higher level position. 10% of employee’s base rate and right to revert back to former position without loss of benefits or accruable entitlements when employee performs duties and responsibilities of out-of-scope position temporarily (seniority will continue to accrue for 6 months only).

Paid holidays: 12 days, including National Truth and Reconciliation Day.

Vacations with pay: 20 days to start, 25 days after 120 months (10 years), 30 days after 216 months (18 years). Employee may carry over maximum 2 weeks per year.

Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 7 hours per day or 35 hours per week. Double time after 2 hours of overtime. Time and one-half for work on day or rest; double time for employee who works both consecutive days of rest on second day of rest worked. Time may be banked, maximum 20 days in bank.

Meal allowance: Meal or meal allowance of $15 (previously $6) for more than 2 hours of overtime and every 4 hours thereafter.

Medical benefits: Employer will pay 100% of premiums for supplementary health care plan for regular employees. Employer will $2,250 to each eligible employee on Sept. 1 of each year for health and wellness spending. Unused credits may be carried forward for 1 year after year in which credits are allocated. At end of second year on Aug. 31, unused credits are subject to forfeiture unless claimed by employee. Employee may claim 75% of such credits by Sept. 30.

Dental: Employer will pay 100% of premiums for dental insurance plan for regular employees.

Sick leave: Leave of absence with pay is allowable on account of illness from start of each fiscal year for 26 weeks or 130 work days per fiscal year.

LTD: Employer will pay 100% of premiums for LTD plan for regular employees. Coverage of 70% of pre-disability gross salary with elimination period of 26 weeks or 130 working days.

AD&D:Employer will pay 100% of premiums for coverage of $25,000 (increased to $100,000 when death or dismemberment is sustained by employee who is away from normal place of business and is travelling on employer’s business and is in effect 24 hours per day during duration of travel).

Life insurance: Employer will pay 100% of premiums.

Pension: Employer will provide 10.8% of each regular employee’s monthly salary in lieu of pension (amount will be provided electronically directly to employee’s RRSP account where possible). Effective April 1, 2022: 10.9%. Effective April 1, 2023: 11%.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of child, stepchild, sibling, spouse (including common-law spouse), parent, grandparent or spouse of any of above (or those of spouse), any person who is dependant of employee who lives in employee’s household. 1 day, with pay, to attend funeral of persons other than those specified. Maximum 10 days per year of leave.

Seniority – recall rights: 24 consecutive calendar months after layoff.

Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours of pay at applicable overtime rate, plus meal or meal allowance of $15 (previously $6) every 4 hours, plus $30 travel compensation each round trip.

Probationary period: Maximum 6 months of work unless extended by mutual agreement for up to 3 additional months.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 1 year for adverse reports, disciplinary actions.

Severance: 1 month’s pay per year of service, maximum 12 months. Employee who elects to terminate employment relationship when layoffs are contemplated will receive $1,000 retraining allowance payable to training or educational entity of employee’s choosing. Employees must exercise right within 12 months of terminating employment.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide apparel, at no cost to employee, when employee is required either as condition of employment or because of nature of work to wear uniforms, coveralls or other special wearing apparel.

Mileage: $0.51 per kilometre where field staff use own vehicle for travel on behalf of employer outside corporate limits of Edmonton. Labour relations officers will receive vehicle allowance of $150 per month.

April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021: 1-time signing bonus of $500 to all employees

Editor’s notes: Standby: $14 per 24 hours, if standby is on regular work day; $22 per 24 hours, if standby is on regular day of rest; $22 per 24 hours, plus regular work day’s pay and 1 lieu day, if standby is on paid holiday or previously mutually agreed-to lieu day. Personal leave: Employees will be eligible for up to 6 days with pay per fiscal year for personal leaves. Any unused personal days will be carried forward for 1 year, maximum 6 days banked. There will be no payout of unused personal days. Effective April 1, 2022: 7 days per year. Employee development: Employer will provide $11,000 per year for employee development fund. Regular employee will be entitled to maximum $1,250 per year to fund learning opportunities (employee may request permission to use future annual entitlements maximum $3,000 for specific program of studies where program is part of long-term learning plan). Cellphones: When employer determines that cellphone is required for work of employee it will be provided by employer or allowance of $85 per month will be paid for employee’s personal cellphone. Employee expenses: When employee is required to travel and is away from regular domicile, employee will be entitled to claim cost of accommodations or $30 for each night where private arrangements are made by employee. In addition, employee will be entitled to $10 daily miscellaneous allowance. When employee is required to purchase meals: $15 for breakfast; $15 for lunch; $30 for dinner.
