Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2020. Signed on June 12, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective April 1, 2018: 0%

Effective April 1, 2019: 0%

Shift premium: $2.50 per hour (previously $2 per hour) for work during scheduled shifts in which majority of shift is between 6 p.m. and 4:59 a.m. $2 per hour (previously $1.75 per hour) for work during scheduled shifts in which majority of shift is between 12 a.m. Saturday and Sunday 11:59 p.m. 5% for employee who perform, on acting basis, majority of principle duties of another position within department with higher maximum salary for minimum 1 workday.

Paid holidays: 11 days, plus Christmas floaters (2 or 3 days after Christmas), plus one-half day during Calgary Stampede. Effective Jan. 1, 2020: Easter Monday will be paid holiday. Christmas Eve half-day to be taken as last half of shift.

Vacations with pay: 15 days to start, 20 days after 6 years, 25 days after 16 years, 30 days after 25 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for first 3 hours in excess of employee’s normal schedule per day or time worked on first scheduled day off. Double time after 3 hours of overtime or all work on second scheduled day off. May be taken as compensating time off.

Meal allowance: Employee will be reimbursed for overtime meal, up to maximums outlined in university travel expense handbook after 3 hours of overtime.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for university group plan; 50% of premiums for Alberta Health Care. Employer will contribute $850 per year (previously $750 per year) for flexible spending account.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Sick leave: 70% of salary for 130 workdays of illness to start; 100% of salary for each of first 20 workdays of illness and 70% of normal salary for each of next 110 workdays of illness after 3 months of service; 100% of salary for each of first 25 workdays of illness and 70% of normal salary for each of next 105 workdays of illness after 1 year of service; 100% of salary for each of first 45 workdays of illness and 70% of normal salary for each of next 85 workdays of illness after 3 years of service; 100% of salary for each of first 55 workdays of illness and 70% of normal salary for each of next 75 workdays of illness after 4years of service; 100% of salary for each of first 70 workdays of illness and 70% of normal salary for each of next 60 workdays of illness after 5 years of service.

LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employee pays 100% of premiums for 2 times employee’s basic salary.

Seniority – recall rights: 6 months.

Call-in pay: Minimum of 4 hours’ pay (or time off) at employee’s regular rate, except for snow removal if such call-in forms continuous period with employee’s normal working hours, then no minimum will apply. When call-in forms continuous period with employee’s normal working hours, employee will be paid $10 as compensation for travel expenses.

Probationary period: 6 months of employment or 500 working hours, whichever is greater; 12 months for apprentices.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months.

Safety shoes: $175 every 2 years for footwear where identified by hazard assessment.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide coveralls, lab coats or uniforms when needed to protect employee’s clothing.

Editor’s notes: Standby: One-half hour’s pay at employee’s regular rate or equivalent time in lieu for first 5 hours and additional one-half hour’s pay or equivalent time in lieu for each subsequent 3 hours. For standby on paid holiday, compensation will be 1 hour’s pay at employee’s regular rate or equivalent time in lieu for first 5 hours on standby and additional 1 hour’s pay or equivalent time in lieu for each additional 3 hours or portion thereof. Service bonus: $500 to employees who have completed 20 years of service as of July 1 in any given year. At employee’s discretion, bonus may be taken as lump-sum payment (less any statutory deductions) or added to employee’s flexible spending account.
