Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2020 to Oct. 31, 2021. Ratified in September 2020. Signed Sept. 3, 2020.

Wage adjustments:

Effective May 1, 2020: 1%

Effective May 1, 2021: 1%

Shift premium: $0.50 per hour for shifts starting between noon and 6 p.m. $0.75 per hour for shifts starting between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. $0.55 per hour for shifts in which more than half of time worked falls on Saturday. $0.75 per hour for shifts in which more than half of time worked falls on Sunday. 5% for team leaders (if they are within same salary band as group of employees they provide team leadership; if team leader is currently paid in higher salary band than group of employees they provide team leadership, then no additional premium will be provided). 5% or minimum of salary band for work which employee is performing, whichever is greater, when employee fulfills duties of higher salary band for more than 10 consecutive shifts.

Paid holidays: 13 days including 2 float days.

Vacations with pay: 10 days after 1 year, 15 days after 2 years, 16 days after 5 years, 17 days after 6 years, 18 days after 7 years, 20 days after 8 years, 21 days after 12 years, 22 days after 14 years, 24 days after 16 years, 25 days after 17 years, 26 days after 23 years, 30 days after 28 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for authorized work performed in excess of normal work schedule or on scheduled day off. Minimum 3 hours’ pay for overtime on scheduled day off. Double time for all hours worked on statutory holiday or Sunday.

Meal allowance: $15, plus tax, to employees who work more than 10 consecutive hours at supervisor’s request and haven’t been provided with meal.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for major medical coverage. Employer pays 66 2/3%, employee pays 33 1/3% of premiums for basic medical and hospital insurance. Employer will provide $200 per year for taxable wellness spending account.

Dental: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Paramedical: $1,500 per year (previously $1,200 per year) for psychologist coverage.

Sick leave: 3 working days in first 3 months of employment; additional 10 days after 3 months of employment; 13 days per year thereafter.

STD: After 90 calendar days, 13 1/3% of salary top-up of income protection at 66 2/3% for up to 4 months from commencement of time for which income protection payments are received or until disability ceases, whichever is sooner.

LTD: Employer pays 66 2/3%, employee pays 33 1/3% of premiums for long-term salary continuation insurance.

Life insurance: Employer pays 66 2/3%, employee pays 33 1/3% of premiums for group life insurance plan.

Pension: Employer and employees share cost 50/50 for 9.2% of salary up to maximum pensionable earnings (YMPE) and 11.5% of pensionable salary over YMPE.

Bereavement leave: 5 paid days for death of employee’s spouse or same-sex partner, child, stepchild, parent, stepparent, sibling, stepsibling. 3 paid days for death of grandparent, grandchild, sibling-in-law, parent-in-law, child-in-law, ward.

Seniority – recall rights: 24 months for layoffs.

Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours at appropriate overtime rate when called in to work for emergency outside of scheduled shift. $3 per hour for standby with call-in rate if called in.

Probationary period: 6 months continuous regular full-time employment.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years for disciplinary letters within employees’ human resources files.

Severance: Temporary layoffs received working notice or pay in lieu thereof of 2 weeks with up to 4 years of service, 4 weeks after 4 years of service, 6 weeks after 8 years, and 8 weeks after 12 years.

Safety shoes: $190 per year for CSA-approved safety footwear for employees whose jobs require wearing of safety footwear.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide appropriate protective clothing, other devices, which employer deems necessary to protect employees from workplace injury or hazard.

Band 1: $17.22/$23.30 rising 1 step to $17.39/$23.53

Band 2: $19.25/$26.07 rising 1 step to $19.44/$26.33

Band 3: $21.33/$29.80 rising 1 step to $21.54/$29.09

Band 4: $23.36/$31.60 rising 1 step to $23.59/$31.92

Band 5: $25.41/$34.39 rising 1 step to $25.66/$34.73

Band 6: $27.45/$37.13 rising 1 step to $27.72/$37.50

Band 7: $29.49/$39.85 rising 1 step to $29.78/$40.25

Editor’s notes: Language bonus: $12 per additional language per week if employee has language facility which is normal part of job requirement and is regularly used. Self-funded leave: Regular full-time employees can defer salary to take up to 12 months’ leave of absence. Standby: Employees scheduled to standby will receive $3 per hour that they are on standby. Employees required to attend work while on standby will also be entitled to emergency call-in pay. Employees required to attend to work from home, while on stand-by, will also be entitled to emergency call-in pay. Staff development: When employee wishes to take courses at institutions other than University of Guelph and doing so will likely increase job proficiency, employee will be reimbursed for 100% of cost of tuition, maximum $1,000 in any 1 calendar year. Prescription safety glasses: Employees whose job requires prescription safety glasses will be entitled, once every 2 years, to CSA-approved prescription safety glasses paid for by employer.
