Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 9, 2020 to Sept. 8, 2023. Ratified in December 2020. Signed on Dec. 14, 2020.
Wage adjustments:
Effective Sept. 9, 2020: $0.50 per hour
Effective Mar. 9, 2021: $0.50 per hour
Effective Sept. 9, 2021: $0.40 per hour
Effective Sept. 9, 2022: $0.35 per hour
Shift premium: $0.35 per hour for afternoon shift (4 p.m. to midnight/3 p.m. to 11 p.m.). $0.50 per hour for midnight shift (11 p.m. to 7 a.m.).
Paid holidays: 15 days including 3 floating days in year 1 and 2. 4 floating days in year 3.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of 8 in normal workday and on Saturdays. Double time for all hours worked on Sundays and statutory holidays. Time may be banked, maximum 100 straight-time hours per year.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for basic services and partial coverage for major services.
Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for $300 coverage and $100 eye exams every 24 months.
Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums for $1,200 coverage per employee and spouse, dependants per calendar year.
Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 66 2/3%, maximum of $500 weekly, based on 1-1-7-17 plan.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for $30,000 coverage.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for $30,000 coverage for employees, $15,000 for employee’s spouse, $5,000 for employee’s child.
Pension: Company matches employee contribution, maximum 4% of wages, to RRSP.
Bereavement leave: 4 consecutive paid working days for death of spouse, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, child, stepchild, foster-child, grandchild, sibling, stepsibling, stepparent, half-sibling, sibling-in-law, child-in-law, stepgrandparent. 1 unpaid day for funeral of aunt, uncle.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months for employees with less than 1 year of seniority; amount of time equal to seniority for employees with more than 1 year of service.
Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours’ pay at overtime rates if called in after leaving work.
Probationary period: 60 days or 480 hours worked within 12-month period.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 9 months for verbal warnings; 12 months for written warnings or suspensions.
Safety shoes: $150 per year for employees required to wear safety footwear.
Uniforms/clothing: $100 every 24 months for prescription safety glasses if required to wear them by employer. Approved PPE will be provided by employer.
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 6.3% increase):
Shipper and receiver: $21.75 rising in 2 steps to $22.50
Material handler: $21.25 rising in 2 steps to $22
Picker/fascia repair/final inspector: $21 rising in 2 steps to $21.75
Utility and cleaner: $20.50 rising in 2 steps to $21.25
Process operator: $20 rising in 2 steps to $20.75
New hires (start): $16 rising in 2 steps to $16.75
New hires (12 months): $18 rising in 2 steps to $18.75
Signing bonus
$1,500 for all active employees with seniority date on or before Sept. 8, 2020
$500 for all active employees with seniority date on or after Sept. 9, 2020
Editor’s notes: Injury pay: Employee injured on job will be paid for balance of shift on which injury occurred, if employee is sent home or to doctor by employer and is advised not to return to work. Paid education leave: Employer will pay $0.03 per hour per employee for all hours worked, for paid education leave program.
