Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2022 to Dec. 31, 2023. Signed on Nov. 5, 2021.
Wage adjustments:
Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 1.75%
Effective Jan. 1, 2023: 1.25%
Shift premium: $1.50 per hour for lead-hands.
Paid holidays: 14 days.
Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month or 15 days to start, 1.67 days per month or 20 days after 2 years, 2.08 days per month or 25 days after 5 years, 2.5 days per month or 30 days after 10 years, 2.91 days per month or 35 days after 15 years. Maximum 15 days may be moved to following year but if not used by June 30 of following year, vacation time will be paid out.
Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week; double time after 2 hours of overtime. Time may be banked, maximum 10 days.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for A.Y.C. group plan.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Weekly indemnity: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
Sick leave: 1 day per month, maximum 24 days.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Pension: Employer will match employee contributions of 6.5% into RRSP to start. Employer will match employee contributions of 7% into RRSP in third year of agreement. Employee may contribute more than employer’s matching contribution to RRSP.
Bereavement leave: Employees will receive 3 days (6 days if attending funeral) for death in immediate family (spouse (including common-law), mother, father, sister, brother, stepfather, stepmother, stepsibling, foster-parent, grandparent, grandchild, aunt, uncle, spouse, son, daughter, stepchild, ward of employee, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, any relative residing in employee’s household). 1 day for attending funeral of non-family member.
Call-in pay: Greater of hours actually worked at straight-time or 4 hours of pay. Greater of hours actually worked at appropriate overtime rate or 2 hours at appropriate overtime rate for work on day of rest, on holiday or outside regularly scheduled hours of work.
Probationary period: 6 months.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years.
Safety shoes: Maximum $175 per year. Employer will provide winter safety rubber boots for public works employees.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide all protective devices, clothing and other equipment necessary to properly protect employees from injury and unhealthy conditions. Employer will make provision for proper cleaning and maintenance of all safety equipment, devices and clothing.

Editor’s notes: Long-service leave: Long-service employees will be awarded 1 additional week of vacation on employees’ twentieth, twenty-fifth, thirtieth year of service. Travel time: After 1 year of service, employee will be given 3 days travel time once per year; maximum 3 days of travel time may be carried over to next year. Flight allowance: $2,242 per year, as vacation transportation allowance, on each anniversary of employment. Standby: 1 hour’s pay at straight-time for standby subsequent to regular work day and 1 hour’s pay at time and one-half for standby performed on day of rest or holiday.
