Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2023. Ratified in July 2020. Signed on July 22, 2020.

Wage adjustments:

Effective July 1, 2020: 0.9%

Effective July 1, 2021: 0.9%

Effective July 1, 2022: 0.9%

Shift premium: $0.50 per hour multi-skilling premium (employee working outside their posted position). $0.50 per hour technician bonus. $1 per hour for working 8-hour afternoon shift or nightshift or 10-hour shift.

Paid holidays: 14 days including 5 floating days

Vacations with pay: 0.83 shifts per month of service to start, 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 20 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work performed outside standard workday or standard workweek and greater than 40 hours per week. For employees working 8-hour shift or weekend shift, time and one-half for all work performed on Saturday and Sunday and on statutory holidays. Employees may voluntarily elect to work excess hours maximum 13 hours total per 24-hour period.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $500 every 24 months per dependent. Eye examinations once every 24 months per dependent.

Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Physiotherapists unlimited coverage; $35 for initial visit $20 per hour for each subsequent visit, $200 each per year for psychologists/social workers; $1,200 per year for speech therapists; $35 per visit maximum $420 per year for chiropractors; $30 per visit maximum $360 per year for naturopaths; $50 per visit maximum $600 per year for massage therapists.

STD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 66 2/3 or regular wages up to 26 weeks.

LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 50% of regular wages to maximum of $2,500 per month

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $70,000.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $70,000. Dependent policy of $14,000.

Pension: Employees contribute 5% of base pay and company pays 7% of employee’s base pay.

Bereavement leave: 40 working hours for death of spouse, parent, stepparent, child, stepchild, child-in-law. 3 working days for death of sibling, sibling-in-law, stepsibling, grandparent, stepgrandparent, grandchild, great-grandchild (2 days for weekend employees). 1 working day to attend funeral of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, great-grandparent.

Seniority – recall rights: 36 months for layoffs. Employee will not accumulate seniority during leave of absence for personal reasons exceeding 2 weeks (2-week period may be extended to 4 weeks if leave is for family matter).

Call-in pay: Guaranteed minimum of $150. Employee will have option to work minimum of 4 hours total.

Probationary period: 180 calendar days.

Severance: 8 weeks working notice of termination and 2.4 weeks’ pay per year of service (no cap).

Tool allowance: Company supplies necessary tools and equipment at no cost to employees.

Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 1.8% increase):

Production operator (full rate after 4 years): $26.68

General maintenance: $27.04

Production operator (student rate): $15.50

Maintenance journeyperson (full rate): $40

Editor’s notes: Transfers: Employees temporarily transferred by company to lower-rated position will not have pay reduced. Standby: $100 for each 24-hour period on call with pager and employee must live within 3 kilometres of plant location. Prescription safety glasses: Employer will pay for prescription safety glasses as necessary. Employees will be allowed to purchase glasses from optometrist of their choice, provided glasses conform to CSA standard Z195-1970. Eye examinations relating to prescription safety glasses will be covered once each 12-month period. First aid: Employer will provide training for all interested employees in first aid and CPR applications. All employees taking training will be paid at straight-time rate of pay; training will be held on shift when possible. Paid education leave: Employer will pay $0.01 per hour per employee for all compensated hours for paid education leave. Early production exit plan: If senior employee meets requirements and is looking to retire or resign earlier than retirement plan, employer will offer $15,000 as retirement package for those 50 years old with 20 years of service. Hearing aids: $2,500 every 3 years for employees and dependants. Orthopedic shoes: $500 per pair every 12 months for custom-fitted orthopedic shoes. $400 per pair maximum of $1,200 every 12 months for inserts.
