Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2020 to July 1, 2023. Ratified in August 2020. Signed July 1, 2020.

Wage adjustments:

Effective July 1, 2020: 3%

Effective July 1, 2021: 3%

Effective July 1, 2022: 2%

Shift premium: $0.50 per hour for afternoon shift. $1 per hour for night shift. $1 per hour to any employee assigned to train or re-train another employee. Higher rate for all hours worked on higher rated job if employee remains there for 1 hour shift or more.

Paid holidays: 11 days including 1 floater day.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 15 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for hours worked in excess of 8 in 1 day, 40 in 1 week, or up to 11 hours on statutory holiday. Double time for hours worked in excess of 11 in 1 day or 48 in 1 week. Time and one-half for maintenance employees working on Saturday or Sunday.

Meal allowance:  $5, provided as soon as possible after end of regular shift, or employees who work more than 3 hours of overtime after regular shift.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for extended health care plan.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for dental plan.

LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for dependents. Employee pays 100% of premiums for group plan.

Pension: DC pension plan. Company matches employees’ contributions of 1% of pay and 50% of next 2%.

Bereavement leave: 5 paid days for death of spouse, child, parent, legal guardian, sibling (3 days during 36-hour workweek; 4 days in 48-hour workweek for employees on 12-hour shifts). 3 paid days for death of sibling-in-law, grandchild, grandparent, parent-in-law, child-in-law (2 days for employees on 12-hour shifts).

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months for layoff; 24 consecutive months for being absent from work for any reason except for absences in conflict with any federal or provincial law..

Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours’ pay if called back after leaving work.

Probationary period: 3 months within 1-year period. 480 hours worked for employees on 12-hour shifts.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for disciplinary actions.

Safety shoes: $200 per year for CSA green triangle light duty steel toe safety footwear; CSA green triangle heavy duty safety footwear and for insoles and laces. Mixing and oven operators may receive additional pair of safety boots if need is demonstrated. $300 per year for employees in shipping/receiving, pre-cool, maintenance. Employees will be required to wear appropriate safety footwear at all times while on duty.

Uniforms/clothing: Each employee will be supplied appropriate uniform and employer will be responsible for laundering uniforms. Employees who own posted position in freezer will be supplied with own suits.

Tool allowance: 100% of cost of required tool which is broken in performance of normal duties by maintenance employee.

A-1 plant (hired prior to Jan. 1, 2023)

General labourer: $17.62 rising 2 steps to $18.51

Sanitation/machine operator/print/relief: $18.89 rising 2 steps to $19.85

Fruit mixer/oven operator: $20.15 rising 2 steps to $21.17

Pre-cool, shipping/receiving: $19.82 rising 2 steps to $20.81

Mixer: $21.18 rising 2 steps to $22.25

Subject matter expert/lead-hand: $21.69 rising 2 steps to $22.79

Plate changer: $22.55 rising 2 steps to $23.68

Maintenance

Chief refrigeration: $40.24 rising 2 steps to $42.27

Refrigeration: $33.84 rising 2 steps to $35.56

Electrician/millwright with B-ticket: $38.76 rising 2 steps to $40.72

Electrician/millwright without B-ticket: $36.95 rising 2 steps to $38.81

Gasfitter with ticket: $36.61 rising 2 steps to $38.45

Gasfitter without ticket: $35.92 rising 2 steps to $37.73

Editor’s notes: Steward education: Stewards will be entitled to time off with pay to attend union’s shop stewards education program held each year, which promotes labour-management relations. Employer will contribute $100 towards cost of program for each shop steward who attends, maximum 1 time per year per steward.
