Renewal agreement: Effective June 15, 2018, to June 14, 2022. Signed on March 15, 2019.
Shift premium: $0.75 per hour for training allowance. $0.60 per hour for all employees whose shift results in majority of hours being worked between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. $10 for public-area persons (excluding nights) who are required to clean up after someone who has been sick. $2 will be paid into banquet-server gratuity pool for each bottle of wine served but not supplied by hotel. $100 for banquet servers who work on hotel sponsored banquet functions held on New Year’s Eve.
Paid holidays: 11 days, plus anniversary date of employment (or Heritage Day, if proclaimed) and birthday (after 1 year of seniority).
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 4 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 10 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 25 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or for all hours worked in excess of maximum regular work week.
Sick leave: 5 sick days per year after minimum 1 year of seniority. Effective Jan. 1, 2019: Unused sick days over course of year will be paid out at $100 per day. This will be paid out in first pay day in December. Engineering employees who work alternate schedule of 12 hours shift will get 48 hours of sick-time paid equalling 4 days.
Pension: Employer will contribute $0.75 per hour (previously $0.60 per hour) worked for each full-time employee into Ontario United Food and Commercial Workers Union Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (husband, wife, child, father, mother, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandchildren, grandparents or grandparents of employee’s spouse, stepchildren, stepparents, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, same-sex partner).
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.
Call-in pay: Minimum 5 hours of pay at regular rate or hours worked, whichever is greater.
Probationary period: 90 calendar days worked for full-time; 180 calendar days for part-time.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months.
Uniforms/clothing: Doorman, valet employees: Employer will provide long johns, scarves, appropriate headwear, gloves in winter; in summer, employer will provide short-sleeve white shirts and ties (and hats for doormen). Driveway employees will be allowed to wear UV protection sunglasses as dictated by company policy. Room attendants may, at time of next approved individual uniform change or at time of hire, choose from either dress-based uniform or slacks-based uniform. Employer will supply gloves, hats to employees engaged in outside banquet catering functions during fall, winter and spring.
Tool allowance: $85 (previously $75) per collective agreement year to employees in cook 1, cook 2 and pantry-cook classifications, after 1 year of seniority, for purchase or maintenance of knives. $50 per year, less deductions required by law, to employees in maintenance department.

Editor’s notes: Investigation time limits: Employer will limit indefinite investigation suspensions to 56 hours when employee is suspended pending investigation. Meetings, training: For mandatory meetings or training, employees will be paid minimum of 3 hours so long as training does not continue for 3 hours, employee agrees to work remaining hours as required. When employee does not agree to work remaining hours, as required, employee will only be paid for length of meeting or training. Parking gratuity: Employer will pay $1.75-per-car gratuity for long-term valet parking. Distribution of gratuity will be based on hours worked for both valet and door in month. Effective Jan. 1, 2020: $1.85 per hour. Coffee compensation: Employer will provide lump-sum payment of $50, less deductions required by law, to room attendants. Gratuities: Employer will pay employees 12% gratuity for complimentary items, vouchers including surprise and delight SPG, gift certificates, as amended from time to time. Education, training fund: Employer will contribute $1,200 (previously $1,100 per year) to union’s education and training fund.
