Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2020 to April 30, 2023. Ratified on Dec. 10, 2020. Signed on Jan. 27, 2021.

Wage adjustments:

Effective May 1, 2020: 0%

Effective May 1, 2021: 1%

Effective May 1, 2022: 1%

Shift premium: Employees will receive equivalent of one-half hour of pay when employer requires employees to remain at lodge during meal break on weekends and holidays. Employee will be paid at time and one-half for all hours worked on first shift of changed schedule when change is provided with less than 7 calendar days’ notice. $2 per hour shift premium for any hours of their shift performed between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. $3 per hour for any hours worked between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. of next day. $3.25 per hour to all employees who work between 11 p.m. on Friday until 7 a.m. on Monday.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 10 days, to start, 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 3 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 6 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 10 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 15 years. Vacation entitlement, maximum 7 days, will be authorized to carry over to next calendar year (at employer’s discretion).

Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 8 hours per day or 80 hours biweekly.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for extended health care and Alberta health care insurance.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Sick leave: All employees will have income-protection bank topped up with 12 days on each June 1 or on completion of probation.

STD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.

LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Pension: Employer, employee will each contribute 5% (previously 4%) to Nursing Homes and Related Industries Pension Plan (NHRIPP).

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of father, mother, child, spouse (including adult interdependent-relationship partner). 3 days for death of legal guardian, brother, sister, grandparents, grandchildren, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law. Additional 2 days if travel greater than 322 kilometres from employee’s residence is necessary. One-half day leave to attend funeral as pallbearer.

Seniority – recall rights: 1 year after layoff. 24 months for employees on sick leave.

Call-in pay: Paid at time and one-half.

Probationary period: 450 hours or 6 months, whichever is shorter. Employer may extend period additional 40 shifts.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for records of disciplinary nature.

Severance: 1 month’s pay after 1 year of service; 2 months’ pay after 3 years of service.

After 460 hours: $22.14 rising 1 step to $22.36

After 920 hours: $22.54 rising 1 step to $22.77

Assistant cook

Start rate: $19.30 rising 1 step to $19.49

After 460 hours: $19.72 rising 1 step to $19.91

In-scope kitchen manager

Start rate: $23.78 rising 1 step to $24.01

Editor’s notes: CPR, basic first aid: employer will make available to employees opportunity to attend properly accredited cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), accredited food safety course and basic first aid course. Employer will assume all instructional costs of courses. Employer will provide paid leave for all employees to attend courses, maximum 16 hours. Personal time off: After completion of probationary period, employees will be entitled to 1 paid personal time off day per year, with no carryover and no pay out of any unused days. If 1 full day is not utilized by employee in calendar year, employee will receive 0.5 day of salary at years end.
