Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2023. Ratified in August 2020. Signed on Oct. 30, 2020.
Wage adjustments:
Effective April 1, 2020: 1%
Effective April 1, 2021: 1%
Effective April 1, 2022: 1%
Paid holidays: 10 days. Permanent full-time employees are entitled to 2 days per calendar year for religious, cultural, personal reasons. Third day is added after 5 years of service; fourth after 15 years.
Vacations with pay: 15 days to start, 20 days after 5 years, 25 days after 10 years, 30 days after 20 years.
Medical benefits: Employer pays full cost of plan with semi-private coverage, $6,000 per year drug cap per individual, out-of-Canada coverage.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage for 90% basic, 50% major restorative.
Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage up to $300 per 24 months.
Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums for $1,250 per individual maximum per year. PSWs receive $750 annual health spending account (HSA). ESL instructors receive $400 HSA per year.
Sick leave: 5.25 hours per pay period, maximum 10.5 hours per month, after 3 months of service. 5 hours per month for PSWs, up to 40 hours per year. 1 hour per month for ESL instructors who work less than 20 hours per week and 1.5 hours per month for ESL instructors who work more than 20 hours per week.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums with 6-month elimination period.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums coverage of 2 times annual salary.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2 times annual salary; $10,000 for spouse; $5,000 for child.
Pension: Permanent FTEs are required to contribute 3% of regular salary to group RRSP. Employer contributes 3% to 6%, depending on employee’s length of service.
Bereavement leave: 6 consecutive paid days for death of spouse, same-sex partner, child (including child of spouse, same-sex partner. 5 consecutive paid days for death of parent, sibling, guardian, grandparent, grandchild. 2 consecutive paid days for death of parent-in-law, child-in-law, sibling-in-law, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.
Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours’ pay. $15 per day for employees who are on-call and $40 for being on-call on holiday.
Probationary period: 6 months of at least 20 hours per week. For employees that work average of less than 20 hours per week, extended until 520 hours worked or 2 years, whichever occurs first.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for suspension; 16 months for verbal or written discipline.
Mileage: $0.58 per kilometre for employees who are authorized to use own vehicle for employer business-to-business travel.
