Renewal agreement: Effective Aug. 1, 2018 to July 31, 2021. Ratified on Jan. 23, 2019. Signed on Jan. 15, 2019.

Wage adjustments:Effective Aug. 1, 2018: 2.3%Effective Aug. 1, 2019: 2.2%

Effective Aug. 1, 2020: 2.1%

Shift premium: $0.70 per hour for all work outside 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (if employee works 4 or more hours outside 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., employees will be paid premium for full shift).

Paid holidays: 10 days, plus working day before Christmas Day.

Vacations with pay: 1 days per month, maximum 10 days, after 1 year; 1 1/4 days per month, maximum 15 days, after 2 years; 1 2/3 days per month, maximum 20 days, after 8 years; 2 1/12 days per month, maximum 25 days, after 25 years; 2 1/2 days per month, maximum 30 days, after 26 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 7 or 8 hours per day or 35 or 40 hours per week. Time may be accumulated, maximum 40 hours.

Meal allowance: $14 when meeting to evaluate job evaluation questionnaires (if meetings exceed 3.5 hours in 1 day). $14 (previously $12) for employees who work minimum of 2 hours of overtime before or after but joined to normal shift or who work 4 or more hours, on overtime, on Saturday, Sunday or holiday.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Dental: 100% coverage for basic services. 70% coverage for prosthetic (dentures) expenses. 85% coverage for orthodontic expenses, lifetime individual maximum benefit of $5,000. 80% coverage for restorative services (dental implants, caps, crowns and bridges), maximum $5,000 per individual per year.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Maximum $425 every 24 months (previously $400 every 24 months); maximum of $350 every 24 months (previously $300 every 24 months) for employees whose position requires them to wear safety glasses. Coverage may be used for laser eye surgery. Maximum $115 every 24 months (previously $100 every 24 months) for eye examinations performed by qualified optometrist.

Sick leave: 1.5 days per month, except for those months in which employee is absent more than 15 normal working days (other than on approved paid leave, excluding sick leave). Unused credits will accumulate from year to year.

LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums.

Pension: York University Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of parent, spouse, same-sex partner, brother, sister, child, current ward, legal guardian, grandparent, grandchild. 3 days for death of mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, stepparent, stepchild. If overnight travel outside of Toronto is necessary, maximum 5 days’ unpaid leave will be granted.

Seniority – recall rights: 1 year for employee who accepts position outside bargaining unit; 12 or more consecutive months for layoffs.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours’ pay if, in excess of 35-hour work week, at overtime rate or for actual hours worked at overtime rate, whichever is greater.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months if regarding other than suspension or discharge;

Severance: 2 weeks’ pay at employee’s regular rate for each completed year of service to 15 years; 3 weeks’ pay for each additional year of service after 15 years, total maximum 60 weeks’ pay, as enhanced severance. 1 week’s pay at employee’s regular rate for each completed year of service to 15 years; 2 weeks’ pay for each additional year of service after 15 years, total maximum 26 weeks’ pay, as regular severance.

Safety shoes: $200 per year for employees who are required to wear safety shoes or boots.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide and maintain protective clothing, equipment or devices for all employees.

Editor’s notes: External development fund: Employer will make available to union $12,500, effective Aug. 1 of each year of collective agreement, for union-developed training programs. Summer hours: From Friday prior to Victoria Day to Labour Day, normal work day for all employees will be reduced at end of regular shift, by 1 hour every Friday or normal last day of employee’s workweek. On-call: $2 on-call stipend for each on-call hour ($3.50 per hour on holidays or grant days) (previously $3.15 per hour on holidays or grant days). If employee is called and resolves problem off work site, employee will receive minimum 1 hour’s pay at time and one-half or actual hours worked at time and one-half, whichever is greater; if employee comes to university, employee will receive minimum 3 hours’ pay at time and one-half or actual hours worked at time and one-half, whichever is greater (double time and one-half on holidays or grant days). Hearing care: Maximum $1,500 every 36 months. Orthotics: Maximum $2,000 every 24 months per person.
