Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 22, 2021 to Jan. 21, 2024. Signed on Aug. 29, 2021.

Shift premium: $0.50 per hour more than checker rate of pay for lead-hands. $0.25 per hour for all hours worked between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Paid holidays: 13 days, including National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, 1 floating holiday, day before Christmas, day before New Year’s Day.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 18 years, 6 weeks after 25 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for hours worked after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.

Medical benefits: Employer will contribute $520 per month (previously $510 per month) for each eligible employee to local union health and welfare plan.

Pension: Employer will contribute $700 per month (previously $390 per month) for each eligible employee to Teamsters and Participating Employers of Ontario Pension Plan (TAPEOPP).

Seniority – recall rights: 13 weeks if employee is laid off and requests severance pay. 90 calendar days for employees promoted to supervisory position or positions not subject to agreement. 24 months after layoff.

Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours of pay at time and one-half. Time and one-half for all call-in which requires employees to work more than 9 hours in 24-hours period.

Probationary period: 60 calendar days once employee has exceeded 24 hours in any 1 workweek.

Safety shoes: Whenever employees are required to wear safety shoes or boots, employer will supply 1 pair every 2 years for all employees so required. Employer will also contribute $200, plus applicable tax, every 2 years for employee’s safety boots.

Uniforms/clothing: Employees will be provided with 1 uniform every 2 years. Uniform will consist of 1 jacket, 2 pairs of winter pants, 3 long-sleeved shirts, 1 parka or liner or bomber jacket every 3 years, 3 short-sleeved shirts or 3 golf shirts, 2 pairs of summer pants, 1 pair of shorts. For employees handling hazardous material, they will be supplied by employer with all necessary equipment, rubber clothing, goggles to protect employee. Shunters, dock men, drivers, yardmen who work in terminal yard or other shunt operations in inclement weather will be provided with protective rainwear.

Sample rates of per-mile pay (current):

Drivers extended city rate: $0.6209

Sample rates of hourly pay (current):

Casual driver: $25.76

Part-time dock/students: $19.66

Editor’s notes: Medicals: Any medical examination required by federal or provincial legislation to maintain driver’s license will be complied with by all employees provided however employer will pay for examinations. Should employee elect to see own physician employer will reimburse employee, maximum $125. Meal allowance: $12 will be provided after 12 hours of continuous delays due to inclement weather, maximum 1 payment of $12 per 24-hour period.
