Nova Scotia WCB rolls out new recurrence of compensable injury policy

Policy to improve transparency and accountability regarding the decision-making process: WCB

The Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) of Nova Scotia board of directors approved a new program policy on the recurrence of compensable injury.

The policy was instated after considering input received from stakeholders during consultation and making revisions to the policy to improve clarity and transparency, according to the WCB.

The new policy identifies and communicates the factors and questions the WCB considers in determining whether a worker has suffered a recurrence of their compensable injury.

The program policy does not change, expand or limit the existing criteria used to adjudicate recurrences, but improves transparency and accountability regarding the WCB’s decision-making process, according to the WCB.

The policy and background on the consultation process is available at: http://www.wcb.ns.ca/app/DocRepository/5/Policy/Reccfin.pdf
