Guide to office ergonomics and raising safety awareness among youth

Office ergonomics
The introduction of an office ergonomics program is a small but significant step toward reducing work injury in the office. This 38-page guide from the Workers’ Compensation Board of Alberta contains suggestions to help employers get started. Employers learn how to detect the signs of an injury caused by poor ergonomics and  what to do  to fix the problem. The guide provides useful checklists and activities to develop a prevention plan.

Don’t be a number
The Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut offers a 17-page guide for workers under 25 to raise awareness about workplace injury. I am Not a Number outlines common injuries among young workers including those to the back, legs and arms. The guide includes lots of statistics and tips for how to avoid various painful situations such as being struck by an object. The guide uses sarcastic, fun language and bold, interesting fonts to make it appealing to younger workers.
