Saskatchewan Association for Safe Workplaces in Health appoints new CEO

George Marshall named to head of non-profit association

The Saskatchewan Association for Safe Workplaces in Health (SASWH) has appointed George Marshall as its new CEO.

SASWH is a non-profit autonomous association that was established Feb. 12, 2010.

“George is exactly the type of leader we have been searching for,” said Cécile Hunt, chairperson for SASWH. “His success at reducing injuries and his commitment to excellence were viewed as assets by our board of directors. Everyone working in the health care sector will benefit from the experience George brings to the association.”

Marshall was the CEO for the Service and Hospitality Safety Association of Saskatchewan over the past year. He established the Hotel Best Industry Practice Group under which 43 general managers signed the SafeSask CEO Charter Program.

Marshall worked with the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency for three years as manager of business process improvement and assessment co-ordinator. He also spent six years working at the Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board.

Marshall said he was honoured by the appointment.

“This is an exciting opportunity to grow the association and play a key role in supporting a significant focus on employee safety,” said Marshall “As a senior leader I intend to work with industry to find specific solutions to workplace injuries. Health and safety for all is a priority for the association.”
