The program, called the Young Workers Readiness Certificate Course (YWRCC), received a 2011 Premier’s Award for Excellence in the Public Service.

The course is mandatory for 14 and 15-year-old workers in the province.

The online course was created to prepare and protect youth entering the workforce. It was designed to raise awareness of workplace health and safety rights and responsibilities. Since its creation, more than 5,600 youth have successfully completed the course.
