WorkSafeBC encourages drivers to shift to winter

Website includes weekly driving tip, countdown to the end of the season

WorkSafeBC’s winter road safety website, Shift Into Winter, is online for the 2011 to 2012 winter driving season.

“The best way to stay safe on the roads this winter is to avoid driving when road and weather conditions are bad. Even an hour or two can make a big difference,” the website said. “If you can, wait until the weather improves. If you have to drive, drive smart. Make sure your vehicle is winter ready, give yourself lots of extra time to get where you need to go and carry an emergency survival kit.”

The website features a weekly driving tip, a countdown to spring driving and updated fact sheets on driving in winter conditions.

There are also workplace resources including a safe driving checklist and four PDF posters employers can print from the website.

The website has videos on safe driving from December to April and links to relevant websites, including a link to British Columbia weather warnings.
