Finalists announced for BC HRMA awards

12 individuals and teams up for 3 awards

The British Columbia Human Resources Management Association (BC HRMA) has announced the finalists for its 2010 Professional Awards.

There are three awards being handed out: Rising Star Award, Award of Excellence — HR Professional of the Year and Award of Excellence — Innovation.

The finalists will make a presentation to the judges during the first week of March and the winners will be announced at the awards and CHRP recognition gala on May 6 at the Vancouver Conference Centre.

Rising Star Award

There are four finalists for the Rising Star Award:

• Nella Garman, acting human resources consultant at the University of Victoria.

• Allan Lau, human resources assistant at Canadian Autoparts Toyota.

• Rene McComber, human resources advisor at the Vancouver Aquarium.

• Julia Simpson, human resources manager for Western Canada at Compass Group Canada.

Award of Excellence – HR Professional of the Year

There are three finalists for the HR Professional of the Year Award:

• Greg Conner, vice-president of human resources and communications at EDS Advanced Solutions.

• Cheryl Stafford, director of human resources at B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation.

• Diane Sullivan, vice-president of human resources at B.C. Safety Authority.

Award of Excellence – Innovation

There are five finalists for the Innovation Award:

• B.C. Hydro: Team consisting of Ashley Bennington, Karen Green, Rick Milone and Agnes Terebka.

• Sheri Hamilton, manager of human resources at Salmon Arm Savings and Credit Union.

• Maureen Clarke, a principal at the BluePrint Group.

• Lori Rilkoff, human resources manager at the City of Kamloops.

• Teck Highland Valley Copper disability management program and committee: Team consisting of Richard Boyce, Candace Droder, Rod Killough and Jam Valin.
