CISCO best employer; Mega-union formed

TORONTO — Cisco Canada, EllisDon and Bennett Jones top the list of Aon Hewitt’s 50 Best Employers in Canada for 2013. The employers were chosen from a group of 280, based primarily on their creating and sustaining a highly engaged workforce. This year’s survey revealed workers are slightly more satisfied with their pay but less so with workplace processes.

Mega-union formed

OTTAWA — Members of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers (CEP) union have voted in favour of a merger with the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union.(CAW previously voted unanimously in favour of the deal.) This creates the country’s largest private sector union, with more than 300,000 members.
