Pension task force invites further public input

Sept. 19 deadline to submit ideas

The task force examining private pensions in New Brunswick is seeking further public input.

During the past few months, the task force has been examining the challenges threatening pension stability in New Brunswick.

"We want to have in place the appropriate rules and regulations that protect employees, employers and pensions in New Brunswick," said Justice and Consumer Affairs Minister Marie-Claude Blais. "I look forward to reviewing the task force’s recommendations and to hearing feedback from New Brunswickers."

The government is seeking input from groups and individuals with ideas to make pensions sustainable and affordable, it said. The deadline to submit is Sept. 19.

Task force members include Susan Rowland, Paul McCrossan and Pierre-Marcel Desjardins.

The task force intends to release an interim report this fall and will issue its final report with findings and recommendations in the spring of 2012.

Written briefs should be submitted to the task force by e-mail to [email protected].
