QPP benefits up 1.7 per cent in 2011

Contribution levels remain the same at 9.9 per cent

Quebec Pension Plan benefits will increase by 1.7 per cent in 2011, according to the Régime de rentes du Québec.

The increase will come into effect on Jan. 31, 2011.

The level of indexing is based on the increase in the average consumer price index, as reported by Statistics Canada, from 2009 to 2010.

The QPP contribution rate will remain at 9.9 per cent for 2011 (4.95 per cent for employees and 4.95 per cent for employers) to a maximum of $2,217.60 per employee and employer.

Employees and employers must make QPP contributions on annual income between $3,501 and $48,300.
