Saskatchewan's New Guide Focuses on Pregnancy, Parenting and the Workplace

A new handbook offers practical advice and information on pregnancy, parenting and the workplace free of charge to employees and employers

The Saskatchewan departments of Labour and Health worked with the province's Human Rights Commission, Service Canada, and the Breastfeeding Committee for Saskatchewan to create the guide.

A news release announcing the publication of the booklet noted that the handbook brings together information on labour standards, human rights, Employment Insurance, and work-family issues.

"At a time when so many of our parents work, we want to give them every tool possible to ensure success in their employer/employee relationships," Labour Minister David Forbes said in the news release.

The handbook, Pregancy, Parenting and the Workplace..What Employees and Employers Need to Know, is available from Saskatchewan Labour's website at www.labour.gov.sk.ca/standards/index.htm.
