FAIRFIELD, N.J. — Here’s one way to make a big impression on your first day on the job: Pull off a six-figure heist.

That’s exactly what Larry Brooks, 19, allegedly did after being hired as a security guard by Garda. Police in New Jersey arrested Brooks after surveillance video showed him taking $100,000 US ($125,000 Cdn) from his new employer.

After being arrested, a total of $85,900 was recovered from his car in a nearby town — but it’s not clear what happened to the missing $15,000.

Brooks was charged with second-degree theft and released on his own recognizance.
