Employers include Air Canada, Good Life Fitness and Toronto Fire Department
Air Canada, Good Life Fitness, the Keg, Scarborough General Hospital and the Toronto Fire Department are just a few of the employers that will be participating in an upcoming Global TV series.
They have each formed a workplace glee club and will compete for the charity of their choice in the series Canada Sings!
"Imagine trying to dance and sing with the person that you normally work with," said Barb Williams, senior vice-president of content at Shaw Media. "These people are putting their hearts and souls into this so there's no doubt we're going to see some fireworks leading up to the final showdowns."
The six-part series is set to start filming shortly. “Cameras will be rolling to capture every second as each team struggles to transition from co-workers to cast members — from the unsteady days of rehearsal to the polished performances,” said a release.
The newly formed glee clubs will be assisted by “world class” choreographers, who have worked with Madonna and Michael Bublé, as well as professional vocal coaches.
"From funeral homes to zoos to huge corporations like Air Canada, everybody wants their 15 minutes of fame and everyone wants to be a rock star. Canada Sings! will give them that chance," said John Brunton, executive producer and president of Insight Production, which is creating the series.
The workplace glee clubs also include:
• Boiler House Restaurant
• Eric Hamber Secondary School
• Hamilton Police
• Just Energy
• Lone Wolf Real Estate Technologies
