OTTAWA — A bill to reform the federal MP pension plan received royal assent Nov. 1. MPs will pay 50 per cent of the pension plan’s cost, up from 14 per cent. Individual contributions will go from $11,060 to $38,796 per year. The age at which MPs can retire with an unreduced pension will rise from 55 to 65 on Jan. 1, 2016.
SAS, Google among best workplaces
TORONTO — SAS Institute, Google, NetApp, Kimberly-Clark and Microsoft topped the list of 25 companies in the World’s Best Multinational Workplaces for 2012, selected by Great Place to Work. Employee survey scores increased by an average of five per cent for the top five companies. The average level of company trust inched up by one per cent.
