Renewal agreement: June 29, 2025, to April 30, 2028.
Wage adjustments:
2025: n/a
2026: 3%
2027: TBD
Shift premium: $1 per hour when required to work as first aid attendant. $1 per hour for working on wastewater systems.
Paid holidays: 12 days.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years.
Overtime: On a scheduled overtime shift, time-and-a-half for the first 10 hours and double time for hours worked beyond 10 in a day. If an employee works a Saturday and Sunday consecutively, double time for all hours worked on the Sunday. Double time for all unscheduled overtime hours and hours worked on a statutory holiday.
Meal allowance: $23 or a hot meal when working beyond 10 hours.
Medical Benefits: Employees entitled to up to $600 per year for health and wellness-related expenses. Employer contributes to benefit plan ($2.60 per hour per employee (2025) rising in 2 steps to $2.80 (2027)).
Alcohol and substance abuse policy: The Construction Industry of British Columbia Substance Use Testing & Treatment Program Policy.
Pension: Employer contributes to Pension Plan ($4.50 per hour per employee (2025) rising in 2 steps to $5.50 (2027)).
Bereavement leave: In accordance with the provisions of the Canada Labour Code.
Sick leave: Injury and illness leave in accordance with the provisions of the Canada Labour Code.
Probationary period: 90 calendar days.
Severance: 2 weeks after 3 months of employment, 3 weeks after 3 consecutive years of service plus 1 additional week for each year of service up to a maximum of 8 weeks.
Safety shoes: After 6 months of continuous employment, $200 per year reimbursement for safety boots, laces, repairs, toe caps, or insoles.
Uniforms/clothing: Rain gear, personal flotation devices, and coveralls will be provided in accordance with employer’s policy in effect prior to the signing of the agreement.
Tool allowance: Upon receipt and approval of employee’s tool inventory, employer will insure tools against theft, excessive wear and tear, or unrecoverable loss during use.
Sample rates of pay:
Heavy duty mechanic lead hand: $53.88 (2025) rising in 2 steps to amount equal to the annual per cent change in the 2026 All Items Index British Columbia Consumer Price Index plus 0.5% (2027).
Journeyperson heavy duty mechanic: $52.57 (2025) rising in 2 steps to amount equal to the annual per cent change in the 2026 All Items Index British Columbia Consumer Price Index plus 0.5%. (2027).
