Collective agreement: Bell Media Radio, a Division of Bell Media Inc.

Renewal agreement: April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2028. 

Wage adjustments: 

2025: 2% 
2026: 2% 
2027: 2% 

Paid holidays: 12 days including 2 floater days. Employees can substitute one day for religious, ethnic, or racial reasons. 

Vacations with pay: 1.5 days per month up to 15 days to start, 15 days after 1 year, 20 days after 7 years, 23 days after 12 years, 25 days after 18 years, 30 days after 25 years. 

Overtime: Time-and-a-half for hours worked in excess of weekly or regular daily hours. 

On-air personalities receive $27.50 per promotional appearance beyond 24 in a year. Employees performing voice-tracks outside of regular workday for stations other than Halifax Radio receive $50 per session. 

Meal allowance: $20 for employees required to work overtime or work more than 5 hours past the scheduled time of their last meal period. 

Medical Benefits: Employer fully funds Omniflex Benefits Program including health benefits with options for single and family coverage. Employees can use a Health Reimbursement Account to cover health care expenses not reimbursed by other plans. 

Short-term disability: 8 weeks at 100% salary followed by 18 weeks at 80% salary. 

Long-term disability: 66 2/3% of base salary until recovery or age 65, including disability payments from other sources. Employer pays 100% of premiums. 

Life insurance: Omniflex Benefits Plan features life and accident insurance. 

Pension: Defined contribution pension plan. Employer contributes 4% if no contribution from employee, 5% if employee contributes 1%, 6% if employee contributes 2 to 12%. 

Bereavement leave: 5 paid days for death of spouse, common law partner, parent, spouse/common law partner of parent, guardian, child, or grandchild. 3 paid days for death of sibling, parent-in-law, grandparent, or any relative currently residing in employee’s household. 1 paid day for death of sibling-in-law. 
 
Sick leave: 8 days at full pay. 

Seniority – recall rights: 6 months for employees with less than 2 years of service, 12 months after 2 years of service, 24 months after 5 years of service. 

Call-in pay: Time-and-a-half at a minimum of 3 hours for being called back to work. 

Probationary period: 3 months (full-time employees), the earlier of 60 days of work or 1 year (part-time employees). May be extended by another 3 months/60 days of work. 

Severance: 3 weeks for each year of continuous service, with incomplete year pro-rated, up to 52 weeks.

Production assistant/operator, front office co-ordinator, FM late night announcer: $22.06 (2025) rising in 2 steps to $22.95 (2027). 
Traffic clerk, production assistant/swing announcer: $25.53 (2025) rising in 2 steps to $26.56 (2027). 
Accounting clerk, talk show producer, sales assistant, traffic/accounting clerk: $26.81 (2025) rising in 2 steps to $27.89 (2027). 
Creative writer, FM swing announcer, FM evening announcer, promotions co-ordinator, newsperson, digital content producer: $28.08 (2025) rising in 2 steps to $29.21 (2027). 
FM morning co-host, FM midday announcer, producer, morning newsperson, broadcast engineer, morning show co-host, morning show multi-media host: $31.47 (2025) rising in 2 steps to $32.74 (2027). 
FM morning announcer, FM drive announcer, morning show host: $35.33 (2025) rising in 2 steps to $36.76. 
 

Editor’s Notes: Employees whose regular job function doesn’t include voicing or on-air duties receive a talent fee for the following: $20 to $45 for voicing of commercials; $11 for hosting or performing on a radio program of less than 10 minutes, $33 for hosting or performing on a radio program of more than 10 minutes, $86 per hour for appearing and performing on remote broadcast live on location, $45 per hour for remote broadcast simulated on location.
