Collective agreement: Corporation of the Town of Whitby

Renewal agreement: June 1, 2023, to May 31, 2026.

Wage adjustments:

June 1, 2023: 3.5%
June 1, 2024: 3%
June 1, 2025: 3%

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: 4% vacation pay to start, 6% after 4 years, 8% after 8 years, 10% after 15 years.

Overtime: Time-and-a-half for work over 40 hours/week (35 for certain positions) and for working on December 24.

Medical Benefits: Employer and employee share premium cost for Extended Health Benefits Plan, with percentages determined on April 1 and October 1 of each year.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for dental plan, with percentages determined on April 1 and October 1 of each year.

Bereavement leave: Three paid days for immediate family (parent, parent-in-law, sibling, spouse or common-law spouse, same sex partner, child, grandparent, grandchild, stepchild, stepparent, stepsibling, or stepgrandchild), one paid day for spouse’s immediate family. Up to two days travelling time for distant bural, at employer’s discretion.

Sick leave: N/A

Seniority – recall rights: Six months.

Probationary period: 312 hours worked or six months, whichever comes first. May be extended for up to 176 additional hours or three additional months upon mutual consent.

Discipline: 24 months sunset clause.

Safety shoes: CSA-approved safety boots for those required to wear them ($250 allowance every two years).

Uniforms/clothing: Employer provides designated employees with 3 t-shirts, gloves as required, protective hats, ear muffs, and safety glasses. For pool employees, up to 3 swimming suits, 1 sweat shirt, and 1 tank top. Replaced as deemed necessary by employer.

Sample rates of pay: (Job classification, previous rate, new rate)
Band A: $25.67-$28.52 in 2023, rising in two steps to $27.23-$30.26 in 2025.
Aquatic instructor/guard: $30.83-$34.36 in 2023, rising in two steps to $32.70-$36.45 in 2025.
Fitness leader: $30.83-$40.81 in 2023, rising in two steps to $42.03-$43.29
Municipal law enforcement officers: $26.25-$32.79 in 2023, rising in three steps to $27.98-$34.96 in 2025.

Editor’s Notes: Inclusion of a Memorandum of Understanding supporting transgender employees. The agreement also ensures that job evaluation methodologies remain consistent between full-time and part-time staff, reinforcing internal equity.
