Renewal agreement: January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027.
Wage adjustments:
2025: 3%
2026: 2.5%
2027: 2.5%
Shift premium: $2.20 per hour for all hours of a shift where the majority of the shift is worked between 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. and all hours worked on a Saturday or Sunday. On a holiday, time-and-a-half for all hours worked up to the regular daily scheduled hours of work and double time thereafter.
Paid holidays: 13 days.
Vacations with pay: 12 shifts per fiscal year to start, 14 shifts per fiscal year after 7 years, 18 shifts per fiscal year after 14 years, 24 shifts per fiscal year after 24 years.
Overtime: Double time for all hours worked in excess of employee’s normal scheduled daily hours, including hours worked on a day of rest. Minimum 3 hours for employees reporting on a day of rest or called back to work after leaving on a normal workday.
Meal allowance: $10.50 for employees working 3 hours or more of overtime. $10.50 for every 4 hours thereafter.
Medical Benefits: Employer pays full cost of premium for Alberta Health Care plan and extended health care plan and $750 annual health care spending account.
Dental: Employer pays full cost of coverage: 90% of basic and preventative services, 60% dental lab work, 50% major and restorative services up to $2,000 per year, 50% orthodontic services to lifetime maximum of $3,500.
Vision: $375 per person per 24-month period plus cost of eye exam.
Pension: Employer pays full cost of premiums to non-contributory standard plan. Employees can choose to participate in Group RRSP plan in which employer matches employee contributions up to $1,200 per calendar year.
Bereavement leave: 7 paid calendar days for death of parent, step-parent, foster parent, parent-in-law, sibling, sibling-in-law, spouse (including common law and fianceé), child, child-in-law, child of common law partner, step-child, grandparent, grandparent-in-law, grandchild, grandchild-in-law, relative permanently residing in employee’s household, or ward. 1 paid day for death of chosen family member, elder, or other significant relationship (up to 3 per year).
Sick leave: 11/12ths of a shift for each calendar month with at least 7 paid shifts, to a maximum of 52 ½ shifts. 100% pay for 48 consecutive work hours of illness or less. 80% pay after that up to 65th calendar day of absence.
Seniority – recall rights: 18 months.
Probationary period: 12 months.
Safety shoes: $100 each year for clean zone shoes. $300 per year for safety boots. Tinted safety glasses.
Uniforms/clothing: Each firefighter receives 1 dress uniform (tunic, shirt, necktie, trousers, service cap with badge, and dress shoes). Replacements made as required. Each firefighter receives the following work uniform: 2 trousers, 4 cotton shirts, 1 nylon jacket, 1 belt with buckle, 4 t-shirts, 2 workout shirts, 1 ball cap, 1 stationwear pullover, 1 wildland coveralls, 1 coveralls, 1 pair winter gloves. Replacements as required.
Mileage: 0.72 cents per kilometre when required to work overtime.
Sample rates of pay:
Band 1 firefighter: $47.52-$52.84 (2025) rising in 2 steps to $50.05-$55.51 (2027).
Band 2 lieutenant: $53.31-$59.14 (2025) rising in 2 steps to $56.01-$62.14 (2027).
