Collective agreement: First Canada ULC o/a First Student (Burlington Branch)

Renewal agreement: September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2027. 

Wage adjustments: 

2024: 10% 
2025: 4% 
2026: 4% 

Shift premium: $1 per hour per wheelchair run and driver trainer. $15 help rate per 30 minute interval. $15 cross-border premium. $0.25 per hour for mechanics for each ASE course completion. 

Paid holidays: 12 days. 

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years. 

Overtime: Time-and-a-half for any authorized time worked over 40 hours in one week or 8 hours in any one day (or 10 hours in any one day for employees working on a 10-hour shift). 

Meal allowance: For charters: after 5 hours $17, after 8 hours $30, after 12 hours $40. Included in $250/day rate for overnight extra work. 

Medical Benefits: Employer pays 90% of the cost of health and welfare program. Part-time employes can choose to participate and pay 100% of cost. 

Vision: 100% reimbursement up to $240 per person per 24 months. $75 every 24 months for eye exam. 

Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 90% of the cost of coverage on first day of accident or hospitalization or 7TH calender day of illness, up to 15 weeks. 

Life insurance: Employer pays 90% of the cost of $30,000 coverage. 

Pension: Employer provides eligible employees with Group RSP Plan. 

Bereavement leave: 3 paid days for death of spouse (including same-sex or common-law spouse and fianceé), child, step-child, parent, step-parent, primary caregiver, sibling, step-sibling, parent-in-law, child-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, or sibling-in-law. 1 day can be reserved to attend memorial at later date. Additional days without pay may be granted with prior notice. 
 
Seniority – recall rights: 18 months. 

Probationary period: 45 workdays. 

Safety shoes:  $350 per year reimbursement. 

Uniforms/clothing: When required by employer, employer will supply in full. Appropriate rainwear provided to all wheelchair bus drivers when required. $300 per year for prescription safety lenses, $60 per year for non-prescription safety lenses. 1 high-visibility winter parka to each maintenance employee and driver trainer, with replacement when required. 

Tool allowance: $475 per year for each maintenance staff employee ($500 in 2026).

Big bus and wheelchair minibus and vans special work rate, public and extracurricular charter rate, part-time driver trainer, private charter: $23.07 (2024) rising in 2 steps to $24.95 (2026). 
Bus monitor: $20 (2024) rising in 2 steps to $21.63 (2026). 

S licensed mechanic w/o ASE certification: $39.14 (2024) rising in 2 steps to $41.50 (2026). 
S&T licensed mechanice w/o ASE certification: $40.85 (2024) rising in 2 steps to $43.34 (2026). 
Lead hand maintenance w/o ASE certification: $42.57 (2024) rising in 2 steps to $45.15 (2026). 

Maintenance staff – parts person: $20 (2024) rising in 2 steps to $21.22 (2026). 
Maintenance staff – bus washer, summer help: $17.60 (2024) rising in 2 steps to $18.67.
