Renewal agreement: May 1, 2024 to April 30, 2027.
Wage adjustments:
2024: 3.2%
2025: 3%
2026: 2.2%
Shift premium: $0.75 per hour on afternoon shift. $0.90 per hour on overnight shift.
Paid holidays: 13 days including 6-day year-end shutdown.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 20 years, 6 weeks after 30 years.
Overtime: Time-and-one-half for first 4 hours of overtime worked in excess of the number of hours scheduled for the down or immediately prior to their starting time. Double time for all consecutive overtime in excess of 4 hours. Time-and-one-half for first 8 hours worked on Saturday or employee’s 6th day, and double time for all hours worked beyond that and on 7th day. Double time for hours worked on a holiday.
Medical Benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for drugs and extended health care plan.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums on dental plan providing full coverage up to $2,925 per year, 50/50 coinsurance for major restorative up to $2,300 per year, 50/50 coinsurance for perio/endo up to $2,300 per year, and 50/50 coinsurance for ortho up to $2,500 lifetime maximum.
Vision: $500 per 24 months per employee, including one eye exam per 24 months.
Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of plan providing 66 2/3% of regular weekly earnings for up to 72 weeks.
Life insurance: Employer pay 100% of premiums for coverage of $67,000. Employee can purchase additional insurance in units of $10,000 up to a maximum of $200,000.
Pension: Employees grandfathered into designated non-contributory defined benefit pension plan effective Jan. 1, 2015. New defined contribution plan after Jan. 1, 2015, includes employer contribution of 2% of base salary, then employee contributing 2% and employer contributing 1.5% each year. Additional oluntary employee contributions matched by employer at 125%.
Bereavement leave: 5 paid days for death of parent, step-parent, grandparent, grandchild, parent-in-law, sibling, partner, child, child of current partner, step-chid, or unborn child certified by attending physician. 3 paid days for death of child-in-law, sibling-in-law, or grandparent of current partner.
Seniority – recall rights: The greater of 5 years or length of service.
Call-in pay: Minimum of 3 hours’ pay at overtime rates plus 1 hour travelling time for employee who has clocked out and gone home and been recalled.
Probationary period: 90 calendar days.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months.
Severance: 1 week’s pay per year for less than 5 years of service; 1 1/3 weeks’ pay per year for 5-14 years of service; 1 2/3 week’s pay per year for 15-24 years of service; 2 weeks’ pay per year for 25 years of service.
Safety shoes: Protective devices and other equipment not already provided for in the OHSA and deemed necessary by the employer and the JHSC shall be provided by the employer, including safety boots/shoes where it is a condition of employment to be worn.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer provides clean uniforms and hair coverings as required.
Tool allowance: $600 annually for tradespersons and apprentices.
